Because of the timeline and the expectations of both recovery and responsibility, to me it sounds like some mild(ish) autoimmune thing. I’m just speculating, of course. But I’ve been around people with those kind of chronic diseases and they can behave exactly this way: mild (“eh, its probably nothing”), mild(“eh, I’ll be fine”), mild(“ah, I have to remember to check in with a doctor”), acute all of a sudden and with need hospitalization (but you will recover). I say this because 1. She feels like she could have done more to take care of herself, 2. Nobody seems seriously worried that she won’t recover, if she takes the required time off and 3. Immune and lymph disorders of all kinds are always the kind of disease you end up seeing in young (and young-ish) women with chronic symptoms and public profiles but not attention-seeking personality disorders, for whatever reason. It’s like a curse, and Mio fits that phenotype imo. I’m sure there are other diseases that fit the timeline and behavioral profile tho but this is what comes to mind for me. I’m only a health work-adjacent anon with an outsized portion of people in my life with public profiles, tho, so don’t take my speculating too seriously. I just share my thoughts in case it helps more anxious anons, because I know some people will genuinely worry, outside of the memes: I don’t think it’s something really bad like cancer, or that her life is really in danger (if she takes care of herself).
