I think I could've worded this better, I get heated whenever I think about him because of how piss annoying he was when he first propped up and how he ended up pushing into another hobby I'm in.

The proper reason is that he's a businessman, not a creative writer and yet people hold him up as the latter. Throughout the years I've never actually met another person in a creative hobby that enjoys his work but he's really good at buttering people up and appealing to all the non-creatives in his audience. Even in vtubing, I actually haven't met anyone who likes his current output either which is all either mostly stolen ideas from other works, shallow as hell or just extremely poorly thought out but he has the money and the connections to get a lot of people exposed to what he does. His most popular works are the dumb waifus he asks someone else to draw but even those waifus aren't his own original ideas, just ideas that never got much exposure before he got his mitts on them. I don't harass him personally but there's a reason he does that stupid little woe is me speech every now and then while competent webcomic artists and writers do not.

Marketing yourself is probably 70% of what makes somebody a successful vtuber. That corpo vtuber who has never had less than 1k viewers? That is almost entirely due to the strong marketing that corpo has created. The same person would probably be stuck at well below 20 ccv for years on their own (and many of them were on their previous accounts).

Its just part of being a vtuber. You have to break down any thought that advertising yourself is bad in any way. Is it easy? NO! Is most of your shilling not going to result in anything? YES! But you have to just keep doing it, find innovative ways to shill yourself. Find the effective methods, there are cracks that are just waiting to be broken through with a following on the other side. And as your following grows it becomes easier and easier to grow further, trust me on that.

Whenever I miss a stream due to health problems, I feel just a little bit worse. It's out of my control...like I'll get all set up, and then lay down in my chair and when I wake up it's time to go back to the wage cage. :/
