There was some retarded drama when the company tried to make multiple VAs and Ai-chan "versions" a thing and didn't know what the hell they wanted Ai to be. This is when a lot of people lost interest and moved on and that coincided with newer vtubers who streamed instead of having prerecorded videos getting more popular which accelerated it even more. The original Ai apparently has full control of the company and her character again, but the damage is done. I just hope she manages to make a comeback at some point.
