Yeah I'm gonna wait for more developments on AWA. From the little testing I did on it it seems worse than Pony at lewds and definitely worse than Animagine at non-lewds. Not needing LoRAs for characters and artists is nice and all but it needs a lot more training to be competitive. Still a good base to improve upon though.

e621 does have a bunch of useful tags indeed, but besides obvious changes like "hyper butt" I haven't found "bubble butt" to work that well for example.
Despite "bubble butt" being a fairly specific ass shape in my opinion.
It's more a problem of ass shapes not having enough common descriptions, but I do wish things like "fat butt", "muscle butt" or "toned butt" were a thing.
While I could try and describe it to the AI I imagine it would work against itself if I had "fat" in negatives while prompting "fat butt" for example.
In general I also find that western art tends to draw butts with deeper cleavage and bigger cheeks, but Japanese artists (with a few notable exceptions) often don't emphasize that, and any perceived meatyness often goes away when the character bends over.

Nah, being able to grab the images from danbooru in bulk changes things completely when compared to the ones I am usually doing. This is merely something for my gpu to do while I watch youtube videos.

I've deduced that Midjourney's orignal niji・journey (Niji 4) was heavily built upon whatever was in that NAI leak back in 2022... but perhaps using an additional Danbooru scrape not in the original leak, sometime afterwards? I'm trying to pinpoint where NJ's training data cuts off and if it aligns with NovelAI's updates. I'm assuming Niji 6 must be using a mid-2023 scrape, and NovelAI is using a more recent one, because your Advent stuff looks way better!

Another thing I'm curious about - was NovelAI selectively trained on specific VTubers, instead of a blanket of everything on Danbooru? I know the general idea is "more images on Danbooru = better results" but there's a few niche cases that caught me off guard.

I don't know the exact numbers as of the scrape date, but as of now Holostars member Hanasaki Miyabi has 405 images, and Alban Knox has 250 on Danbooru. Yet, Niji 6 can generate Alban, but not Miyabi.

I also can't attribute the niji・journey devs to favoritism in which VTubers it has been trained on, because I'm pretty sure they don't even know what VTubers are. I have never seen a more milquetoast band of normies work on an anime-styled model before, it's so baffling.

(I can't even find a single user gen of "Gawr Gura" on the user-only galleries. It's crazy how far separated Midjourney users are from the average NovelAI user.)

As far as we know NAI didn't specifically target vtubers, but it's possible that they use something to improve character accuracy because it seems like the results are way too good compared to what you would expect from just regular old training. You can see similar inconsistencies as the one you mentioned with artists, NAI knows some artists with like 200-300 pics way better than others that have 500-600, but if a character has more than 100 pics (well maybe 150 now) you can expect NAI to be able to reproduce it pretty accurately

NTA but the Rinmama LoRA I made was using gens Midjourney anon made using their character reference. It's a bit stiff (probably just bad training from me) but works. Also I think a popular pony model on civit is Pony NAI which was trained on certain NAI gens and I made LoRA for someone's 1.5 artstyle, it's doable but dataset has to be good (fixing hands and all that jazz).
