For newfriends / fa/tg/uys: this is a Chronicles of Darkness (CofD) homebrew being played by the fabulous ladies of Hololive English, running under the Hunter: the Vigil module. As most of the players are new to the world of tabletop RPGs, this campaign is being played as more of learning experience, with fun and entertainment the primary goals.

THE CAST:

>Mori Calliope
as THE STORYTELLER.
Everyone's beloved, buxom, pink-haired, adorably awkward boomer reaper. A solid journeyman in playing tabletop, she is the acting GM and organizer of this campaign.
>Takanashi Kiara
as TIARA
An explosively extroverted phoenix and savvy owner of the moderately popular fast food franchise, Kiara Fried Phoenix (KFP). Her experience in TTRPGs is limited to a small amount of DnD played as a child. Her character is Tiara, a nobly born foreigner with a talent for handguns and communicating with birbs, particularly her pet owl, Uhu.
>Ninomae Ina'nis
as YUUL
A soft-spoken, sweet-natured priestess of the Deep Ones, also a talented artist whose character renditions has fueled the flood of Huntermyth fanart. A newbie in the realm of TTRPGs. Her character is Yuul B. Alwright, a sleep-deprived college student with a talent for academics, crafts, and vehicular homicide.
>Amelia Watson
as WATOTO
An animal-loving time traveler and detective with a rough-and-tumble approach to life. Yet another newcomer to the realm of TTRPGs. Her character is Watoto, a paranoid, conspiratorial dealer of herbal concoctions and drugs who holds his own with rough street charisma and his fists.
>Gawr Gura
as SCOUT
An infectiously amiable shark, long-time resident of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. She is also new to TTRPGs, but don't let that fool you, her roleplay and improv performance so far has been nothing less than masterful. After going through multiple drafts and iterations, she has settled upon the party's final character: an illiterate, tough-as-nails country blacksmith named Scout, a melee and survival powerhouse.

Some WoD Lore from a humble /tg/ anon for those here not familiar with Hunter: The Vigil.

>What is World of Darkness
World of Darkness is a Urban-Fantasy Horror brand and setting created by White Wolf Publishing and now owned by Paradox Interactive Yes, that Paradox. The brand is famous for such games a Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, Mage: the Ascension and even some vidya such as VTM:Bloodlines.
The setting takes place in a gothic-punk interpretation of our modern times in which the supernatural is real. Ghosts, Fairies, Vampires, Werewolves, Wizards, ect... its all as real in WoD. These beings all hide from humanity under the veil of secrecy. As to why, humanity once dropped two nukes on itself in order to deal with other humans causing problems. If humanity ever found out about the existence of the supernatural, it would probably go to lengths that would make WWII look like a Sunday service. So the supernatural see fit to exists in the shadows and within the corner of your eye. Silently feeding off off an ignorant humanity.
Setting-wise just think of the movie Blade, the Underworld series or a more Grimdark version of TV shows like Supernatural or Buffy and you've got a rough idea of what to expect.

>Who are Hunters.
An easy answer is just me telling you to "go look in the mirror". Hunters are just average Joes and Janes. Folks that have had a peek behind the veil and seen the supernatural. Whether they saw a young girl get snatched by the boogieman, figured out their boss is in fact a literal blood sucking demon, or accidentally clicked on the wrong webm on a mongolian basket weaving forum. Either way the true nature of the world has been revealed to them and there is no going back. Some folks try to feign a normal life, praying that the revealed horrors never notice their newfound awareness they usually do. Some become reclusive shut-ins, praying that they'll be eaten last which they won't be. Others carve wooden stakes, meltdown silver heirlooms, and grab grandpa's double barrel shotgun.
Hunter is about those folks, sworn to banish the darkness, drive the rats from their holes, and Light Up The Night. All while trying to maintain their sanity. Let's face it, watching a vampire magically reshape your friend's skeleton as if his bones were made of play-dough while your dog's blood begins to boil out of each and every one of his orifices, is not good for ones mental health. Especially when that shit happens almost on a monthly basis. It is World of Darkness after all.

>Why is it called Hunter: The Vigil?
Because hunting is a never ending cycle. One day a human sees the supernatural and becomes a hunter. The human becomes a fire in the darkness turning the shadows back. The hunter continues to hunt, his sanity slowly grinding away at the horrors they've seen and the sins they've committed. One day they may save a young boy from becoming some bloodsuckers midnight snack. They take the boy under their wing and teach them the trade. A flame is kindled. Now two flames work keeping the darkness at bay. One day the hunter's luck runs out or his mind breaks under all the horror. The hunter dies but the boy, now a man, goes on. Carrying the flame that was given to him by the hunter. The vigil marches on and the cycle begins anew.

Hunters generally organize themselves into organizations that can be divided out into three tiers. Cells, Compacts and Conspiracies.

>Cells
From the lone wolf to the local book club. These groups are made up of a handful of hunters who have come together to deal with the nightmares pray on humanity. Whether its the ghoul down the street selling vampire blood to kids, werewolves killing humans for sport, or the haunted mansion at the top of the hill that needs to be investigated. These guys are often humanities first line of defense against the creatures of the night. Their small size means they are quite agile and stealthy in the field and can go years without being detected by their targets until they strike. Yet Cells are typically isolated in terms of support, operating on limited resources and scraps of knowledge. As such they often take on threats with the resources they can get their hands on. Casualty rates can be quite high in an already ridiculously lethal profession. In the end Hunter Cells either get destroyed, disband after the threat(s) have been dealt with, or they survive and continue the hunt and may even later grow and become Compacts.

>Compacts
Two hunter cells oblivious to each other kick in the door to a vampire haven at the same time, hilarity ensues. Two cells make contact discussing witch covens on /x/ and arrange a meet up. However it happens, sometimes hunter cells run into other hunter cells. Most hunters agree that there is safety in numbers and that taking on the supernatural is a lot easier when you have n+1 members at your back. So they start to coordinate, share resources, and work to cover a larger area. For these groups, the hunt never ends. Compact members stand ready at a moment's notices for the call to mobilize. Compacts tend to operate on a regional scale but aren't large enough to become full nation spanning conspiracies.

>Conspiracies
Here be ye BPRD, Delta Green, SCP:Foundation and the lot. Ultra-secretive, these organizations can span entire nations and even reach across the entire globe. Before you ask, yes the Pope is involved. They have the money, the men, the means and their men are equipped with all the latest toys to take on almost any threat anywhere. These guys are who the monsters fear when they hear a bump in the night. Seriously, according to NWoD lore in 2008 the NSA cracked Shreknet which was the super-sekret darkweb used by vampires to communicate with each other across the globe. Needless to say the fallout was biblical, the clans were decimated and several clan elders were killed in coordinated surgical strikes across the globe led by various groups such as Taskforce: VALKYRIE, The US Governments response to the Supernatural, and the Malleus Maleficarum, a holy order led by the Catholic Church told you that hunt monsters.

>Some Notable Compacts and Conspiracies
There are a lot of compacts and Conspiracies in WoD lore, both old and new. I'll list a few over the next few days while posting WoD and Hunter Lore.

The Union
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9chF9gYZqI [Embed]
An all American compact made up of a rag-tag collection regular average Joes who work hard protecting their homes and families from the things that go bump in the night.
Arguably one of the newest compacts on the scene. Forming back in the early 2000's though some groups can trace their origins back to individual cells dating back to the early 1900's forming out of various labor unions. The Union tends to opt for a more defensive NIMBY posture regarding the supernatural. They don't actively hunt supernatural creatures unless they come knocking on Union turf at which point The Union will swiftly brings the hammer down. Cells range from your average (if up gunned) neighborhood watch to backwoods militias operating out of a compound in the country.

Night Watch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByT0FErPgfQ [Embed]
Started by a homeless Vietnam Veteran, the son of a murdered cop, and their gang-banger buddies in the lawless ghettos of Pittsburgh during the 1980's. These guys got sick and tired of watching their friends, family and neighbors get eaten by vampires and decided to take the fight to them. Their first raid against a vampire haven and their ghoul stooges was such a success that it led their neighborhood to rise up in revolt against their bloodsucking overlords and drove them out of the city. Made up of the homeless and downtrodden. These guys patrol the streets and protect the meek from those that would make a meal out of them. They also fight crime and work to clean up communities they set up shop in. They run several community outreach programs to help folks get back on their feet, clean up the streets, and keep kids out of prison. Though these are often a cover to recruit new hunters.
Imagine the Guardian Angles from New York City during the 80's and you've got the right idea.

Finally, OP's special message to the fine ladies of Hololive English (implying they'd ever be caught dead visiting this dump):

A massive, Mori-melon-sized thanks to each and every one of you for all of your hard work in the creation of the Huntermyth series. This is a truly unique phenomenon for both the tabletop and vtuber community. Your collective efforts have blessed us with incalculable levels of joy, inspiration, and entertainment, and no amount of gratitude could ever hope to match it.

And a very, VERY special thanks to Mori Calliope, chief architect of this project. You are truly an exceptional person and one of the best DMs to grace the realm of tabletop. We love you so much for all you've given us so far, and pray that this campaign will be just one of hundreds, no THOUSANDS of the Huntermyth series.

OP’s Totally Legit Review of session 2:
Woof, what a mess. Technical issues, abysmal decisions, botched rolls all over. This one definitely could have used some more polish, but let’s be constructive:
-Calli pushing the flowers on the party. Took them a while to grasp it, but the flowers as a critical plot point was reached by Tiara and Watoto, and it saved them in the end. All in all very well done.
-Splitting the party. Part of me wishes Calli had put her foot down and refused a party split, but letting the girls learn by mistake is part of the experience. Big blunder in terms of success, but it aided in the overall plot.
-Watoto / Amelia. You made some horrible fuck ups, all of it tied to your pathological animal loving. I hope you’re reading this right now, Ame. You are too much of an animal lover, and I say this as one myself. Some animals deserve human compassion. Others do not. I have raised cattle, equines, and pigs, and part of loving animals is knowing when to put them down. Feral dogs attacking our herds, venomous snakes, snapping turtles, sometimes an animal lover has to know when to kill as well as when to spare. And you fucked up royally. Those dogs meant you harm; Tiara was right to try and kill them, and only by Calli’s grace did you avoid a horrible mauling. Don’t make this mistake ever again.
-Yuul / Scout. Pretty good overall, but Scout’s inexplicable agitation of the forest was a massive WTF moment, but they performed admirably. Hats off to Yuul for gathering lore info and diffusing the tension when everyone wanted to outright slaughter the fay sniper. INA WAS MVP FOR THIS SESSION, HANDS DOWN.
-Tiara acted logical for the most part. Climbing up to observe, trying to engage the sniper in combat was what any new player would have done. I’m giving Kiara a pass; she made some missteps here and there, but she knew how to play, and her outburst over the unused walkie-talkies made me happy. The walkie-talkies were supposed to be central to communication, and nobody used them well except her.

Overall:
>Mori
7/10. Ya did good, girl. Take a rest. Just don’t forget to write down everyone’s inventory. And give us an update on those character sheets, please!
>Kiara
8/10. Logical choices, some small missteps. Good RP, and good decision to keep the sniper rifle. Good work.
>Ina
9/10. Good rolls, good decisions, remained level-headed, gathered info and items as needed to help the party. MVP OF THE SESSION
>Amelia
4/10. You fucked up. Bad. Bad decisions. A less merciful GM would have killed you in this encounter. Please remember what you’re up against, Ame. We love you, but good God don’t make such poor decisions!
>Gura
6/10. Don’t agitate nature, please. Decent overall, but early session fuckups really dragged you down. Good work on rescuing Yuul. Good job on the scavenging + shovelling of the fay. Keep up the assertiveness, and you’ll do well. Just think before you act!

Final grade of the session- 5/10. It was overall weak, somewhat hampered by technical issues, but it had some great moments. Calli, Calli, Calli: REMIND THEM OF WILLPOWER. LADIES! EXPEND WILLPOWER! PLEASE!

Don't let this discourage you, though! We're all here to have fun and to improve. Don't be afraid to lean on us and ask for advice. Your community loves you all, so let's grow and improve together! Thank you for all of your hard work so far, we truly appreciate everything you've given us!

I feel that Kiara and Gura did about as well as they did last session, Ina did better and Watoto (obviously) did much worse. Mori did a little worse than she did last session, but I think that can be excused by jetlag.

Weak six to strong five. There was a lot of shit that felt like it didn't need to happen and while everyone seemed more confident that also lead to a higher confidence in simply going off in random direction screaming WHEEE.
Probably the second weakest entry after Kiara's intro.
Still fun, didn't turn me off the campaign, but overall way messier than it needed to be.
Oh and.
Gunplay aside, Kiara really redeemed herself this session.
>>7480975
I think "Listen to Ina, girls" is the unofficial motto of this session.
> 6/10. Don’t agitate nature, please. Decent overall, but early session fuckups really dragged you down. Good work on rescuing Yuul. Good job on the scavenging + shovelling of the fay. Keep up the assertiveness, and you’ll do well. Just think before you act!
Indeed. As I've positively noted before, but what makes Gura's RP work is that she knows when to push and knows when to just short-stop something that's about to get stale or noisome.

Overall good analysis.

I think what surprised me most this session was Calli not randomly getting fucked by travel shit.

A less merciful GM would have at least punished her to some degree in order to create a sense of danger for the girls, especially since a carefree Ame was seemingly calling her bluff, and got away with it too.

Gura’s Scout character, and her ability to role play her so well, is the most enjoyable part of the game to me. The loss of pants again seems like a reoccurring thing. To me the enjoyment aspect is more important than wondering if she did something “right” or “wrong.”

This is what irked me last session: the party was being shot at, and Tiara DID NOT SHOOT BACK. Now she's got both close range and long range weapons. She's nicely geared for any combat encounters. And if Calli's indications are any hint, this fay sniper rifle has some unique qualities.

You covered a lot of the major points. Looking back Ina and Kiara did well this session using the environment to solve (or in the walkie talkie case, create) problems. I am really glad Kiara didn't meta game and created that whole tense discovery by Sniff into an ambush; truly the highlight of the session. I liked the previous session better (having finished the last half before they started helped) due to better interplay with RP and less overtly bad decisions.

Like I posted before the thread death, Calli is being a little too generous at times with the crafting, especially since everyone can throw at least 4 if not 7+ dice at an attempt. I am firmly in the Yes and/but school of GMing, but time, materials, and feasibility need to be more of a factor.

Overall in terms of skill checks and roleplaying they are getting better, but when combat really hits is when things might go downhill. A pregame combat practice would definitely be good before Calli throws a real challenge at them. Just doing a run through of initiative and combat merits will save everyone trouble in the future.

Weird review. Watoto liking the dogs and then running/climbing away when he realized they were hostile monsters was funny. He then tried thinking outside the box on how to pacify them.
Tiara just shot the dogs, including the one that seemed somewhat pacified. And she also didn't duck when she saw a sniper. Not too smart.
But the point of the game is really just to be entertaining and I think they were all doing well at that.

I was absolutely certain there would be combat here. Them in a favorable flank position vs. Sniff and the two vine hounds. Seemed a fair matchup. I can bet you Calli was intending for combat, but had to ditch it in the end. From what I glanced in the /tg/ thread, those vine hounds are actually pretty tough, so mayhap it would've been a bit too much for them. Which seems to be the general theme of HtV, a bunch of regular Joe Shmoes against overwhelming odds.

From what I've witnessed so far, it seems WoD doesn't allow much room for error. I mean, TT in general is pretty unforgiving for the most part, but stupid decisions require consequences, and it can be hard to narrow the gap between a GM punishment and outright death, given the situation.

>> No.7481883

Probably the weakest session so far for me just because of some outright frustrating decisions made, like Watoto actively trying to commit suicide by approaching aggressive dogs and Scout being pointlessly murderous seemingly for jokes. At least the girls themselves seem more comfortable than ever this session, Calli just needs to scare them a little more to keep them in check. Calli completely forgot to remind them about willpower so she was probably dead tired from her flight.

Is it normal to write down what you have on you when you play TTRPGs? It feels like the girls often forget stuff they have, like Ina almost forgetting her taser and Gura using a shovel instead of her pickaxe.

Ame and Kiara had intentions crossed and hurt that encounter. Had they gone fully kill or pacify the dogs would not have been as big an annoyance for me. I place more the blame on Ame because Calli clearly said these were not regular dogs and were in fact just dog shaped vine monsters. Still it got rid of the last Deus Ex Mushroom and that is a big win for the game to be honest. Ame is my oshi but she has the most potential to derail through forcing dumb plans out of all of the players so taking the easy gimme from the mushroom will hopefully have her think more practically while still outside the box.

>>7481708
I think Calli did not call for combat in the house because the session was running out of time and nothing stops pacing quite like rolling for initiative. If Calli is smart, or reading the thread, she should go over combat between sessions before dropping them into their first fight, which almost undoubtedly will be next time.

Honestly, that was a really fucked situation for Calli because they're in front of a big audience of people who don't actually want the girls to die and it's still so early in the session (they literally haven't even started their first mission, this was a detour). Ame really fucked any chance of a realistic resolution for that scenario when she decided to commit suicide by dropping off the hedge and walking towards the dogs that Kiara just shot.

If Calli chooses to have the dogs act realistically and attack her, Watoto either dies, which would bum out 15k viewers and ruin the mood of the campaign before it even starts, or gets mauled, which means they both die or Tiara will need to pull off some BS to get them both out of a heavily disadvantaged situation. I think once Ame made her decision, she forced Calli's hand to pull off some deus ex machina BS since that is preferable to someone dying on a detour to their first mission.

You might be fine with killing off your buddy in your campaign on the 2nd session and have them make a new character or w/e, but Mythbreakers is a big live-streamed project that Calli has spent a ridiculous time planning for, so killing someone off isn't an easy decision to make for the sake of realism. She has to account for what the audience thinks too.

They're using R20, and the sheet on there has basically infinite space for whatever they'd want to write down. So they should really be taking notes. Notes are important. If you want to see what sheets can look check this link out. Some people will only use the first sheet, some might use the first 2, or you could use all 4 to have a lot of detail. Depends on the game

This is honestly a great assessment of that situation. What do you do in front of an audience when a player essentially commits a suicidal act? Go balls deep and make them pay for their hubris, or salvage the session? Not to bring in Critical Role, but Matt Mercer did something similar, and just so happened to kill off the party's openly gay member, igniting a Twitter shitstorm that ultimately gimped every session since.

Calli is playing a precarious balancing act, and sometimes it can be difficult to satisfy both sides. I have naught but sympathy for her, and wish her the best in her GM'ing (and that her party can stop being so goddam stupid).

-Watoto and Tiara flirted some more and exchanged some flowers they found which unintentionally saved Tiara's ass later.
-Scout and Yuul (mostly Scout) tried to cut their way through a dense part of the forest only to hurt it (maybe even killed a person) and almost got absorbed by the forest. Scout took off her pants again to pull Yuul through a gap in the hedge.

Head is -3 and upgrades damage type so it's lethal not bashing. With marksman, aiming and scope you can easily get +8 dice. So even with headshots it's still +5. With 3 successes it's already 7 damage. Do it with two people and even vampire will need to waste a lot of blood to heal that.

LOL Twittards freaking out are retarded, but ya for a long campaign that is streamed in front of an audience of this size, it's more about creating a fun storyline that keeps the players and audience invested rather than creating a fully authentic TTRPG experience. I do still think she needs to remind the players to not pull BS like that and put her in such a shitty position.

A part of me also wonders if Calli is worried that Ame will get mad at her for killing Watoto for being an animal lover. To a TTRPG autist, Ame's decision deserved a brutal consequence, but if you know your pathological animal lover friend is breaking character to do something stupid, killing them for it might be kinda awkward.

The players aren't familiar with the setting and aren't understanding the danger of threats they know nothing about so its probably best they are moveing on to the vampire party so they can start getting hurt and learning how dangerous this world is against enemies they do somewhat understand so the next time an unknown threat appears they will have enough self preservation instilled in them to not immediately try and poke it with a stick.

You're right, it is -3. But it's just stunned (if you do [Size] damage) while circumventing armour if they lack a helmet. It doesn't upgrade damage. I don't think any sort of scope was mentioned on the rifle she has, but even if there were it just mitigates ranged penalties. Aiming can offset the headshot penalty but she still only has 6 dice. Which is like 7 damage on average, which isn't going to drop them. Then if they have any dots in Celerity you're not likely to get another shot on them. So you sort of need multiple snipers, likely 3 but you'd want 4 to be safe, and a clear shot, and there only be 1 vamp to deal with, before it becomes an effective means of killing one. Basically in Princess, the Hopeful, the kingdoms of light got buttfucked by the forces of darkness.
Most of the Queens ruling died then proceeded to reincarnate around the time of the moon landing, one turned into a living storm of fuck you, one saved her kingdom by stealing hope from Earth, and the Queen of Mirrors escaped and didn't look back.
The magical girls pledge their allegiance to one of the reincarnated queens, or the other three, who tend to be more morally ambiguous than their counterparts.
Mirror for example tells every girl she recruits that they're the true heir that will save the world and do everything perfectly without breaking a sweat. Which causes trouble when two Mirror girls meet each other, as they believe the other one is nothing but a fake.
The magic the Mirror gives you encourages you to be a spotlight-hogging bitch and takes your magic away for the day if you show any humility. Also it causes madness in whoever uses it, but that's a separate issue.

I say this as the OP who wrote up the review, Ame is very clearly an "urban animal lover". She has pets, she loves her pets, and she cannot fathom harming an animal. She raised an impressive amount of money for no-kill shelters, which is extremely commendable, and I have no doubt her intentions are anything but pure.

But her outlook on animal treatment is very narrow. I was raised on a cattle ranch. We have our beloved dogs, cats, cows, equines, and pigs, but sometimes harsh reality comes at you, and animals simply have to be killed. Feral dog / coyote hybrids try to kill our calves and pups, so we shoot them dead without hesitation. It's their lives or the lives of our cattle. Elderly livestock have to be sold off and killed, elsewise they give birth to calves and cannot feed them colostrum, and then the calves simply die.

Ame doesn't see any animals as deserving of death. Any animal can be redeemed in her eyes. She comes from a noble mindset, but ultimately it's incorrect, and as we saw in this session, it would have resulted in disaster, had Calli not been there to bail her out.

Sorry for the tangent, I just felt the need to explore the psychological aspect Watoto's decision.

Calli is walking a tough tightrope both on a player/GM level and a streamer/audience level. I don't envy her having to make tough calls like this. A one to one with Ame reminding her of the dangers or at least a decent wounding next time something like this comes up might help, but ultimately it has to come to her deciding whether to break immersion and preserve the fun for the players/casuals or to punish and teach properly and potentially ruin ttrpgs for someone and cause a shitshow on twitter. A lot problems would be solved if the girls read the books and reviewed their sheets together with their knowledge from the 1:1 and early group sessions. But can't afford to waste time on stream doing that stuff and they just aren't going to do it on their own. I've dealt with players like this but never an entire group, there's usually at least a couple rules autists that helps the GM keep things on track

>> No.7499971

>>7499182
Kind of, but it's also that Calli seems to be ignore parts of the game, and the Kiara just took some based on 1 line descriptions without really knowing what any of it meant.

>Subduing Strikes
This lets you downgrade lethal weaponry damage to bashing damage without spending Willpower. This is legitimately an amazing talent for the sort of game they seem to be playing, but it's terrible on Tiara because she doesn't have a melee weapon and doesn't seem interested in using those 3 dots in Weaponry she might has.
>Loaded for Bear
This gives you extra reloads, but they're ignoring that entirely so it sucks.
>Human Prey
This is also pretty good but relies on Initiative which Calli just doesn't seem to be using. Basically before Initiative is rolled you can choose Fight, Flight, or Freeze. Fight makes you Insane but gives you +1 Str, Flight makes you Beaten Down but gives you 8-again on all rolls to escape, and Freeze makes you Stunned or Insensate but gives you a Willpower. Kiara will never use this, and probably hasn't even looked in the book its in.
>Multilingual
This is fine, just lets her character speak multiple languages well enough.
>Iron Stamina
Also great, I don't know if anyone will remember it exists though. It lets you mitigate penalties from exhaustian or your Health being full by the amount of dots in the Merits. So Tiara has 1 dot which means instead of her last three boxes giving -1, -2, -3, to all actions, only the last two do anything and it's -1, -2. It's a really good Merit, not sure it'll see use though.
>Quick Draw
This is also great, especially for the type of character she's playing. But Calli doesn't seem to be using Initiative or turns at all so it's probably never going to see any use. It's essentially a free turn in any combat you weren't ready for though.
>Danger Sense
Gives you a +2 to detect ambushes with Perception rolls, so this one might actually be useful given how much Calli leans on those.
>Gunslinger
She seemed to have wanted to take this as the Merit, but fucked it up because the whole chargen stream was a mess. This is all on Calli, honestly. She should have gone over the sheets afterwards and also not handed out the wrong merit lists in the first place. She has enough dots in useless stuff to take it though, so hopefully this will end up as a Merit when some of the shit gets cleared up.

>>7499848
She's doing fine. She's doing better than she has any right to given the above mess that isn't her fault. The only thing there that's actually a bad thing is thinking about what the GM would want you to do rather than what you/your character would do. Most of the time GM intentions are inscrutable. Thinking about them is often an exercise in frustration.

>>7499900
This is also true. A quick read of the rules, a skim of their merits, make some notes on your sheets, and done. It's pretty much an hours work and would help a lot.

Or show her what the book says about Briarwolves.
>Briarwolves are pack animals. When one catches a scent, they all gather to stalk their prey. What they like best, the moment they wait for, is when the prey starts running. The pack ramps up to that, surrounding their quarry, baying from all across the Hedge, crashing about in the Thorns, and stopping to sniff and slaver just outside where their victims have holed up.
>They eat meat, but like it best when it’s marinated in the victim’s terror and pain. The first time they catch their prey, the briarwolves draw blood, but set their victim free. Such victims rarely get far, with another briarwolf appearing out of the night to swipe with its ragged claws or snap with its sharp, sharp teeth. They repeat this until the victim can run no longer, then fall upon him and feast.

Also, read what they look like and then decide you can't save them and put them out of their misery for being gross.
>Briarwolves are part wolf, but have eerily human features. Their hands end in wickedly clawed fingers. They stand on two legs, but can run just fine, and just as fast, on all fours. Their eyes are human eyes, always. Briarwolves smell of dirt and meat and old, dried blood, and their mouths are full of too many teeth. When they’re on the hunt, their howls cut to the bone.

NTA, but I'm currently running a Princess the Hopeful game.
TL;DR: It's Sailor Moon meets Super Princess Peach crossed with Madoka Magica.

It's the same World of Darkness as always. Except that in the ancient past there was the World of Light, when all the goodness, hope, and well, light ruled the world. Then, overtime, the light became complacent and the Darkness started to creep in.

The Darkness, being all the cruelty and evil in real physical form, starts corrupting and twisting people. Until, finally, it hits a critical mass and starts knocking over the various kingdoms of the Light. Princesses, what we know of as magical girls, embody the Light in a very real physical way. Literal goody two-shoes, as in their shoes are probably made out of condensed Love and their swords are made out of Justice.

So the Dark gets wrecked on its own, because it's basically a mindless mass of evil that acts on instinct. Until it finally corrupts three Queens--super powered Princesses--twisting them into the three Dark Queens. The three Dark Queens are sapient and aware unlike the mindless evil of the Dark. So they create a trap called the Dreamlands to trap all the souls of Princesses. The Dreamlands replicates the Kingdom of Light, and tricks all the Princesses' souls into believing they had won the war..

So, fast forward thousands of years, 1969 hits and the Moon Landing reveals that the Dreamlands aren't real when billions of humans are inspired by the hope of the one big step for mankind. So the Princesses realize they've been duped, and smash the Dreamlands and proceed to start reincarnating in the world conquered by the Darkness.

They've gotta fight evil by moonlight, win love by daylight, and try not to let the Darkness find out where they live because it WILL hollow out their family and wear them like human suits. Princesses are humans with magic that is literally powered by their emotions, so doing the right thing does make them stronger. And being bad girls makes them weaker.

Maiming, or killing a newbie in the second session might be okay if everyone knew the it was a high lethality campaign but it's pretty clear the girls would be crushed if their character died, to say nothing of the chat/fan reaction. I personally think saving that for the last session of a first newb campaign is reasonable, since it gives you an opportunity to give the character a memorable sendoff and gives time not only to make a new character, but for the player to get over it and get excited about the new campaign and not just lose interest while their friends continue. Vampires downgrade mundane Lethal to Bashing and their guns do like 1-2 Lethal, so 1-2 Bashing. They need actual fucking firepower to stand a chance since you do not want to get close to a vamp, Scout might hit hard but she'll still inflict bashing and her target will get to attack back. You gotta shoot them twice as much as you would a human, even more if they got Resilience.
Shotguns and rifles focused on a single target at a time will usually kill them quikc eno and of course fire (their weakness) and explosives are your best bet.
Of course if you know where one goes for daysleep, killing them during the day is the easiest option.

If you want to play Princess entirely straight, then it's like being Hunters but you chase one specific type of creature. You're encouraged to do the right thing by your mechanics, and punished for doing the wrong thing, but sometimes you have to do the wrong thing to succeed.

Gunslinger isn't in 2e yet. I agree with ditching those, but picking up Firefight 3 and Marksmanship 2 instead of the non-existent Gunslinger.

That would let Tiara have an Initiative of Firearms+Wits+Composure(if Mori ever rolled Initiative), bounce shots around corner, get Defense to gunfire, make called shots with a lower penalty, and use rifles/heavy pistols instead of weak revolvers.

Why does every Callis character gets reduced to a whimpering wimp. I thinks shes doing a good job keeping the training wheels on and eventually gets rid of them. Perhaps some minor punishment would be in order in some places to keep the players operating with reason.

Kiara and Gura seem to have it figured out and are pretty aware of situations, Ame and Ina seem to be a bit patchy on their characters motives and situations.

I definitely think the dogs, or at least one of them shouldve got a good bite on watoto, i mean it's not like that wouldve made a difference survival wise, but it wouldve indicated risk and reward concept. Watoto is living with a deathwish, no need to avoid that. If anything to get her way with the dogs, Ame shouldve put on a great RP display to sway the situation in her favor, not just "i throw mushroom".

No, she didn't. She took semi-autos, Tiara is drawn with semi-autos, and Mori had her trade out the semi-autos she kept for revolvers when she reached the hunter base.

Kiara literally doesn't know what the merit does, nor did she read it. Furthermore, you missed the part where I pointed out she can shoot around walls.

Gunslinger is really simple to use and understand. Basically just throws more dice at combat problems, which is always a good option for newbs, without requiring specific player input. (Called shots, bouncing bullets, etc).

Then why did she pick semi-autos in her tutorial? As you said Gunslinger mentions Revolvers 4 times. Yet she still drew her character with semi-autos, still picked semi-autos, and didn't know she had to use revolvers until the first session. Like you've said she tried to put a spent round in her gun, so clearly she doesn't know guns. So why do you think Kiara cares about revolvers enough to not know what they are?

It's almost like she just picked it because it said "gun" in the title and didn't know what it did until after the fact.

>>7508041
It's two attacks at two targets that aren't within close range of one another. She probably grasps that as much as she grasps called shots, IMO.

>> No.7508383

>>7507869
Okay. So I'm kinda not sure how you think you're method is simpler. This is what you're suggesting they pick up.

>Firefight (• to •••; Style)
>Prerequisites: Composure •••, Dexterity •••, Athletics ••, Firearms ••
>Effect: Your character is comfortable with a gun. She’s been trained in stressful situations, and knows how to keep herself from being shot, while still shooting at her opponents. This Style is about moving, strafing, and taking shots when you get them. It’s not a series of precision techniques; it’s for using a gun practically in a real-world situation.
>Shoot First (•): In a firefight, the person shot first is usually the loser. Your character has trained herself to fire first in an altercation. If her gun is drawn, add her Firearms score to her Initiative. If she has Quick Draw, she can use Shoot First to draw and fire with increased Initiative in the first turn of combat.
>Suppressive Fire (••): Sometimes, the purpose of a shot is to distract, not necessarily to hit. Your character is trained to fire off a handful of rounds with the intent to startle opponents and force impulse reactions. When using the Covering Fire maneuver (p. 90), her opponents cannot benefit from aiming against her. She can apply her Defense against incoming Firearms attacks, in addition to any cover bonuses. Additionally, her training allows her to use Suppressive Fire with a semi-automatic weapon.
>Secondary Target (•••): Sometimes, shooting an opponent behind cover is all but impossible. However, a bullet can knock objects off balance, or cause ricochets. By using Secondary Target, your character opts not to hit her target, but instead strike them with any collateral objects that might be nearby. She causes bashing damage instead of lethal, but ignores all cover penalties to the roll. The weapon’s damage rating does not add to the damage in this case.

>Marksmanship (• to ••••; Style)
>Prerequisites: Composure •••, Resolve •••, Firearms ••
>Effect: When prepared and aimed, a gun is an ideal killing machine. Your character has trained to take advantage of the greatest features of a gun, usually a rifle, but this Style can be used with any gun. Because of the discipline and patience required for Marksmanship, your character cannot use her Defense during any turn in which she uses one of these maneuvers. These maneuvers may only be used after aiming for at least one turn.
>Through the Crosshairs (•): Your character is a competent sniper, able to sit in position and steel her wits. Usually, the maximum bonus from aiming is three dice. With Through the Crosshairs, it’s equal to her Composure + Firearms.
>Precision Shot (••): With this level of training, your character knows how to effectively disable a victim instead of focusing on the kill. When attacking a specified target, you may reduce your weapon’s damage rating one-for-one to ignore penalties for shooting a specified target (see p. 92). For example, if your character is using a sniper rifle (four damage weapon), and attacking an arm (-2 to hit), you could choose to use three damage for -1, or two damage to eliminate the penalty entirely.

This is what they're suggesting.

>Gunslinger (•, •••, or •••••)
>Prerequisites: Wits •••, Firearms •••, Firearms (Revolvers) Specialty
>Effect: Your character squeezes the trigger with incredible speed or uses fanning techniques popular among trick shooters to put lead in the air quickly and with minimal loss of accuracy.
>At one dot, she can perform a short burst with a revolver as though it were an automatic weapon.
>At three dots, she can adjust her aim between shots, performing a medium burst with a revolver that requires only three rounds of ammunition. She gains no attack bonus, but still suffers a penalty for multiple targets. She cannot make multiple attacks against one target in the same turn, and she uses three rounds of ammunition regardless of the number of targets.
>At five dots, if your character wields two revolvers, she may attack multiple targets that are not close together as long as both are within short range. This is otherwise identical to the three-dot effect, but the penalty for attacking multiple targets increases by two.

Even if you take into account the bursts it's so much less.
>Short Burst: Three bullets fired at the same target. The shooter enjoys a +1 to her dice pool.
>Medium Burst: 10 bullets, which can hit one to three targets standing close together. The shooter receives a two-die bonus to her dice pool. If firing at more than one target, subtract the total number of targets from the shooter’s pool, then make one attack roll per target.

Because they're passive. She doesn't need to learn new rules except covering fire. Aiming and called shots are all things she already does.
Firefight 1, Marksmanship 1, and Marksmanship 2 is passive.
Firefight 2 just requires she shoot to provide cover, and then is passive. Firefight 3 lets her do a cool thing with guns, which is what she clearly wanted when making the character.

Do you just think Kiara is retarded or are you retarded? I actually can't tell if you're just trolling or mentally deficient.

While this is thought out review, all of it seems like you were trying to explain how the girls should play to win, not how they should play as actual characters. Yes, WoD is pretty brutal TTRPG, but its still a TTRPG. If you don't plan on roleplaying, not only in terms of conversation, but also in character decisions (even in battle), you should just play something else. Or just forget about RP, make blank characters and powergame. You can't have RP outside of combat and full powergame in combat. Animal lover RP outside of combat and merciless slaughter of animals in combat doesn't make sense.

Watoto is a doggie loving retard that grew up with 2 very big doggies around. The way she played seems much more in character than outright attacking the dogs. Metagaming, yeah, you attack them, but that is not how watoto would respond. While i agree Watoto should be punished for the decisions, he shouldn't be killed and any GM that kills the character in that situation isn't expecting roleplaying or is a very bad GM. This could be a good character growth moment for Watoto. Keep in mind that this is all brand new for the characters. They have no idea what that doggie is, and getting attacked could show them just how brutal this world is. And this can go for all the characters.

Also wrangling retards to stay on the plot is important, so big props to Ina, but saying she played well because she rolled well? Not really something you should congratulate people on. Literally RNG.
Still MVP tho.
