It depends on the exact process. At least in my corner of the world contractors usually have to withhold and declare their own income to the government and that's most likely the type of relationship Nijisanji has with their livers.

Looked into Fuwamoco too and seeing how consistent they were with new streaming ideas and projects made me realize I was settling for less when it came to my entertainment as far as streaming is concerned and I was staying watching people I honestly weren't fully enjoying anymore because it was a habit and not because they offered any quality content that was worth watching. Also seeing the stupid drama that was coming out of the Armis males (the anti lolicon bs, the dino guy, and the grooming allegations coming out from the green sniper one) I completely stopped watching males. If males hired by Cover cant avoid being attention whores/menheras/attracting annoying fujo audiences that fight each other than the indie ones have no chance to impress me either
