Hololive is a major force, but I wouldn't say its a driving force in the JP vtubing scene. There is no single driving force, rather it broke the driving force (niji) and now it is in flux.

But Hololive is truly the driving force for the EN vtubing scene. Like it or not, Vtubing in the west tends to revolve around Hololive in one way or another, and if you know about vtubing, you've heard of Hololive, and you have an opinion. The proof is pretty much everywhere.

Their numbers only look good because there is little competition in the English market and because the fanbase is focused on 6 of them as apposed to 30+ in the JP branch. Their numbers look even worse when you look at their superchats too

This thread is outdated. I'm personally boycotting hololive until I get my ultra high spec hotblooded yuusha robot vtuber with a god voice, who can ham it up like a professional seiyuu. Even if they have to hire a professional seiyuu. Even if it means throwing hololive under the bus to massively overfund holostars. I've just completely lost faith in women's ability to entertain and amuse me. They're all far too spoiled and don't know how to truly please a man.
