I've never wanted to be a "virtual youtuber".

I just want to be an entertainer who makes videos that I would want to watch regardless if they get picked up by an algorithm.

The more I think about adhering to any semblance of a schedule, playing a character, or any sort of brand, the longer I take to actually posting the videos I want to.
The people who want to be "virtual youtubers" or "virtual streamers" are not people I want to network with in any capacity. I don't want any of them to like me.

Well I streamed occasionally for fun and decided to vtube since I didn't want to fleshstream. At some point I felt I should aspire to do something with vtubing, problem is I'm lost on what to do. I have fun streaming but you can only stream to 1 viewer (yourself) so many times before you start to question things.

Well, nobody can really make that decision for you and nobody is saying that you really have to do it for anything other than fun, either. However, if you want to do something more, then continuing to do something that you enjoy, getting better and more knowledgeable about it while building a community, then that's more or less the recipe for making that happen. I wouldn't worry so much on the specific numbers and just continue that path while networking a little :]

it sounds to me like you want some recognition or fall into a niche but dont know for what exactly

and there's your opportunity to make it all happen!
take a hiatus to focus on yourself irl and make a gameplan/road map as to were you want to be heading as a vtuber. take this oppertunity to make this big event into a potential soft rebranding. hype it up and it'll get people attention to come and check it out.
dont give up yet when there is still so much to try out and so much aspiring to do!
