First, the derivative is undefined on non-continuous curves, so saying you need look no further than the derivative to understand a curve, is incorrect.

Second, the derivative is a function and is not necessarily positive or negative. Consider the derivative of the sine wave function f(x) = sin(x). It's just d/dx f(x)= cos(x). So the range for the derivative of that function is [-1,1]. Half the time it's negative. Half the time it isn't.

You suggest supplying the initial condition i.e. looking at a singular point on the graph, is good enough to determine positive or negative trends at larger scales. It's not.
Consider the the rotated sine curve f(x) = sin(x) - x/2. Enter it into wolfram alpha if you can't envision it.
There are plenty of local maxima on this graph. There are plenty of places where the derivative is positive. However the overall trend is negative. This graph is similar to that which describes Gura's stream output.

You essentially explained literally what I was acusing you of earlier. You are looking at a small time period and saying that she's improving because in a sense, she is: two streams in a week is better than the last two months, which was zero streams.

Anon, this isn't what I said and it isn't analogous to the way Gura streams. Acceleration would be the second order derivative in your line analogy, but you weren't talking about that in any of your previous posts. You were talking about a first order derivative, i.e. the slope of the curve. "Acceleration" in this case is the change in that slope over time, so in other words, if she starts streaming more and increases that frequency, then that is positive acceleration. But even that doesn't speak to the overall direction of a curve.
If you really want a car analogy, look at it this way:
If I'm traveling at 40 mph and I decelerate by 4 mph and then accelerate by 3 mph and conitinue repeating that every 30 seconds, what's going to happen over time?

The tilted sine graph behaves in a way similar to the graph of her streaming output over time.

The point wasn't to aproximate an actual function, but to give you an idea of the concepts being discussed. Gura often comes back and increases her output for a while before slowing down or disappearing, however, the overall trend is towrads zero. That graph behaves similar to the tilted sine wave and that is why I used it as an example.

It basically let you move at like 500% your normal speed, but it turned the screen completely black so you literally couldn't see anything. So I could only get MP back with potions or by absorbing spells from enemies. And mp potions are rare in that game. Later I found out it was the worst starsign to choose, lol.
