Day 2 of the inaugural run of the /vt/ League Academy!
Thread for all discussion, shitposts and banter related to the /vt/ League Academy.

>what is divegrass
Put simply, a simulation of Pro Evolution Soccer being competed between teams which are embodiments of threads/generals of /vt/. The players represent facets of each thread/generals culture. All of the matches are AI versus AI.

>what is the /vt/ League Academy
It's a way for non-managers (and maybe even newer managers) to get the chance to try their hand at managing with a specific focus on learning and experimentation.

So did any of the new managers have fun? Did making autistic pastebins actually help? It's hard to tell from just watching, and I don't watch the main leagues because they don't have as many vtubers.

It was fun to learn more about how the sausage is made. I don't plan on managing in the next league though, I was mostly curious about how the auto we get handed every league gets put together.

>> No.74177202

>>74175498
I had fun! I had my pastebin figured out before my tictacs were figured out. I'm probably not going to manage next league, however I am going to probably manage in VTL8. I think it's better to let 3/4ths of a cup cycle go by before I attempt to manage, and with a new PES, it's also safer to spin the wheel of autos

Yes, it was fun! I spent hours getting into everything and in the end I probably figured out what my problem was. I still have huge respect for the teams ran by managers in the league. But it's really a time intensive job

Do you feel like this is going to improve the league? Is it going to make it more fun to watch and participate in? I'm realizing as I write this that it sounds like a shitpost but I'm seriously interested.

>> No.74180228

>>74179661
I mean I think having more participants as managers is a good thing. Anything that increases participation I think is a good thing in my eyes.

>> No.74180992

>>74179661
I can't speak for the audience, but as a cadet it was an exciting experience. Even more than just watching the cars play. A manager can optimize his team to beat other teams, but this only works in the group stage, where the opponents are determined and there is enough time. Unless both teams are lazy, the results are more likely to be random.
Some people take this very seriously. Accusing the manager of doing something stupid, like “Why +1 now?” can be frustrating. Pastebins are not very powerful. You still need to prepare a preset that can help or make the situation worse. I saw all sorts of things in my test matches. In the end, it's easy to say: Don't manage if you don't have the time for that. vtl lures people with the options to set the team up but you'd still have to do the aes and so on. It's a rabbit hole of work

>> No.74181167

>>74180992
The taking it seriously is the thing I'm most worried about. When it just turns into a screaming match I feel like it gets less fun.

>> No.74181247

>>74179661
I think it improved the league just by being a couple extra fun matches for everyone to enjoy. I don't think it'll have a noticeable effect on the main league as such for the audience, whether a team is an auto or managed isn't all that noticeable to begin with (and I think that's a good thing).

>> No.74181486

>>74181167
It's all about taking it well. You want to put effort into it but in the end it's a game with friends, no sense stressing needlessly over it. Although that's easier said than done when (You)r team is playing with your tictacs.

Well, I've done enough doomposting. I'm heartened to hear that the cadets had fun, I certainly had fun in the audience, and I'm looking forward to more.

Managing is a lot of work but it's rewarding, even when it doesn't do that well. It also gives more perspective as audience when you hear the streamers/commentators talk about stuff you didn't know about before.

>When it just turns into a screaming match I feel like it gets less fun
I've never felt it get to that level through the 6 leagues so far. It's a tricky thing to have a league with stakes high enough that fans and teams feel invested, but also low enough that the fun isn't ruined. Our league strikes that balance really well.

>> No.74185933

>>74184165
I actually agree - VT league hasn't, which is why I'm hoping it stays that way. And so far, trajectory seems good. The league is tons of fun every time.
