YES... if you take a screenshot 2-3 minutes into the stream starting, they will barely have a dozen Finnanas. Do it in the first minute, and they will have just 5.

Everyone's subs get culled regularly, they just gain more subs then the lose so they have a net positive. NijiEN aren't gaining enough so they have a net negative

NTA but it's not a cope, it's the worst scenario possible, it mean that your grow have straight up stopped and that also mean youtube will stop recomanding you, who mean your sub gain will go even lower, so the sub cull will become worse. It's basicaly a death sentence.

A matter of opinion and i mostly agree
>The gold rush is over
Factually untrue. Even nijiJP is doing better than they used to and hololive is growing MASSIVELY both en and jp as compared to 2020 in terms of overall CCV and supas and merch sales

you don't build a viewerbase by not streaming. it's their own fault entirely

Eh, to be fair, several Holos have talked about that. For example, IRyS outright said that (all the way back in 2022 (or early 2023) she gave up on sub growth because YT removed her subs on daily basis. She concluded that YT algorithm must hate her or something.
The otther anon was right. It was just harder to notice because most other VTubers gain subs faster than the rate YT removes their subs. NjiEN hasn't been for obvious reason

Even if they did stream consistently, EN vtubing doesn't have the anime infrastructure to self sustain like in Japan. JP vtubers have access to the otaku culture, anime and manga events, news, JP artists, as well as constant company collaborations so there is a lot of horizontal terrain to explore.

For EN vtubers, it's a niche thing in the sense that it's isolated from other spheres.
While it has the pros of not being contaminated by Hollywood western crap, there is not much to gain for EN vtubers by making the CCV go up. There is barely few events to do on the west, or have any collaboration or impact with other hobbies.

For example, suppose you removed Gaming out of the content vtubers can do. I think JP vtubers could still thrive with their anime like voice acting(which EN doesn't tend to do), or talking about manga or anime or Japanese cultural events or collabs with companies. The Doujinshi culture of self publishing guarantees endless original content. A JP vtuber can become an ambassador for JP, can you imagine the same from an EN vtuber in the US?

For western vtubers:
Most have self admitted to never watching anime, they don't really put any effort into the "acting" part (like Pic related), they take pride in being "authentic" so they are not different from any other twitch thot. The Zoomer disease of irony poisoning makes it so the streamers are only encouraged to be smug about how silly and ironic is to be an anime character.

If they breached into western cultural events their content would be streams talking about Lady Gaga or collabs with celebrities like Cr1TiKaL. Which obviously current vtuber fans wouldn't appreciate, but where else can EN grow to now??
If Gura goes from 20k views to 40k views, what then? what would feel different for her or her fans? Only a more unreadable chat.
Does she get to do more interesting events?
Talk to more famous western normies?
Is the extra revenue changing the streams?
Nope.
Nothing.
There is no point in growing.

tl;dr Growing doesn't mean cultural relevance or new frontiers for EN. There is no reason to try.

NTA but youtube does cull subs semi-regularly, mostly from inactive accounts. That's how accounts which aren't gaining new viewers can slowly bleed subs.
For NijiEN, their problem is that they are simply not getting exposed to any new audience. so their subs are bleeding away.

This doesn't really happen in EN these days. Almost everyone's stream today was 4+ hours.
