I urge anyone capable of doing so to get a ticket, for a variety of reasons -- chiefly to support the livers, and also because (for the time being,) Stagecrowd still has the better audio-video quality. And because it's worth it! It really, really was.

Some people draw art to support their oshis, others write fic, still more might make a collaborative fan project. I cannot do these things, so instead, I archive their legacy to the best of my ability. I only hope that my actions do not unduly upset them, for it comes from a place of genuine admiration at the end of the day!

You can spot friends of his from your seat, all looking like they knew something you didn’t. Soon, the din of the crowd gets comforting, putting you into a daze.

You almost miss the beginning of the performances, open mic. People perform with a boldness you can’t imagine, and it startles you when he finally comes on stage. He waves at the crowd like he would to greet you, maybe he’s taking over as an MC?

Still, you have the presence of mind to hold your phone up to record. It’s a miracle that you keep it up once he starts, that steady voice transforming into something utterly bewitching.

(It’s a sin what you do with it once you’re alone later that night, one hand clasped over your mouth and the other frantically moving between your legs-)

If it was just singing talent, you might not have ruined your life by watching. But if his voice was confident, his body was moreso, moving against the mic stand like a lover. Hands stroking, gesturing, inviting you to follow him straight to hell. Was he always this playful, this muscular, this sexy? Was your vision finally perfectly clear in this smokey, dark room?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Shu and Yamino. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Shu's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The yaminions understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Shu and Yamino truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Shu's existencial catchphrase "Ayyyyyyyyyyyyy," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Shu and Yamino tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
