with the recent 3D debacle over Miku's 3D expo, do we give too much bullshit to cover and niji for their 3D tech?

I went to Miku Expo in 2018 and it did not look like this. This is apparently some stupid thing thanks to Crunchyroll.
Look at this, it's like AR, she is the same size as a human and can dance between the live performers.

It's a semi transparent screen so you can see parts of the stage behind it too. It's not some tiny screen that makes them look shrunk like what just happened in Toronto

Take meds, I did not even bring up Hololive. I'm saying that Miku Expo didn't always look like shit so OP's usage of the word "still" is wrong. It looked better in 2018 long before ANY vtuber concert. Of course it's a flat screen, that's how holograms work. However this 2024 concert run has a screen that is way too small so the vocaloids look disproportionate to the band, it's not semitransparent, and Crunchyroll forced concert goers to buy a lightstick that was overpriced due to it "interfering" with the holograms, then didn't even use hologram technology. When I went, we all had regular lightsticks and some other people doing wota in the front had lightsticks from other events and it was perfectly fine, in fact it looked nice as the stage reflected everyone's lights.

>> No.73080021

>>73079510
i got to see the lightstick and it definitely doesn't look as nice as the ones Hololive has

It's a cheaply manufactured one made for the sole purpose of not 'interfering' with the hologram which they didn't even use. Crunchyroll are a bunch of Jews. Wait can I say that here since this board shills idolcorp

Yes niji does the exact same thing at live venues. What about it? It has nothing to do with "3D tech".
Hololive still doesn't know how to implement real time tracking of held objects in 3D without it looking like the people on the stream are grabbing air.

Ok I need to ask: when you go to Holofest or whatever aren't you look at a screen? I always assume it was 3d or 3d-ish on a stage but the people who go in person say it looks far different there then what I see online.

If you are still wondering, they are basically seeing a scene with a flat screen and inside that flat screen there is a 3D scene.
And those people who watch online don't see that offline scene with a flat screen, it is replaced with 3D scene (the one which is inside a flat screen for offline people).
How it's done. It's done using AR by taking the Virtual part (3D scene) and "combining" it with Real world audience.

The biggest issue with LED screens is that you have to blend the screen with the stage set up else it looks fucking jarring. Holofes stage design is good because all the lighting set-up is above and beside the screens so you don't see any backlighting on the LED screen. Without seeing the borders of the screen, your brain won't be distracted by the fact that it's a screen every few seconds.
Overseas hololive concerts also blend the LED screens well with the stage design, or at least the concerts at AFA were.
This miku expo shit is probably just crunchyroll hiring a event planner who has 0 understanding of how virtual concerts work.
