why is anzu bringing up the 2017 comiket incident?

I'm not sure if this is the right place, both because it's a bit old and my opinion, but I felt like /news/ was the best place for it. So, you know how a month ago Doki announced her new intro? which is of course just her old intro (same music) but with a new (and improved) Doki dancing gif on top? She said that the song was public domain, but it's not, and that's good. Looking at the song posted on YouTube and other information on the songwriter's company's page, it seems that the music is "royalty free" which indicates to me that they have the copyright and just intend not to enforce it on reusers. There is no explicit statement I could find that the work is released into the public domain. Why is this good? Well, the intro gif is of course basically the same as the old one, and an important similarity between the two--in fact, the main similarity--is that both feature the character dancing along to the music. Because the dance is exactly in time with the music, it is a "derivative work" of the music. Insofar as Doki's new intro gif is a copy of the old one, her new intro is an illegal copy of the old one, which is owned (as is the old character) by "Company A". That's where the not-actually-in-the-public-domain thing comes in: while derivative works (the dance gif) can be copyrighted if they are based on works in the public domain, they can't be copyrighted if they're based on works which are currently copyrighted. So, because of the way Niji handles intros--according to the Luca doc summarized in today's issue of the Mating Press--it is likely that, once again, she will get away with it and can steal her old song + animation back.

I drew a movie film being cut, whcih is how scenes would be edited in the era of film.
Additionally, the film looks like a ladder, with Selen and Pomu(purple and yellow) at the bottom being "cut off" from reaching the top where Vox and Elira (red and light blue) are.
Additionally, when film is cut this way, you would old the top, and once cut the bottom part would fall down, this represent a "fall from grace" the talents experience after leaving Nijisanji.

Sinder has kept the same design, but she has a 1.0 base model and an upgraded 2.0 base model that she got some months ago. Her outfit is definitely more technically impressive than I remembered. The detailing in her eyes and ear ice-muffs are of high quality, and are the sort of improvement that is of permanent value (as opposed to the former fashion of having fancy, long, and otherwise unused animation-toggles). The physics especially are of high quality, the bounciness of the jacket and the motion of the neck-scarf in the second model were quite good. The tail, hair, and usual physics were also superb.

It is actually not really possible for someone to release something "into the public domain", there's no legal basis for that. Public domain in US law only applies to works produced by the US government, or by works that whose copyright has expired. Any work produced by US persons obligatorily and automatically gains copyright protection and is owned by the author.
"Releasing to the public domain" however is commonly used colloquially by people when what they actually intend to do is release it under a royalty-free, perpetual, sub-licenseable license allowing for any derivative works.

In that sense, the dance gif actually has two copyrights: one for the actual animation, and one for the dance moves. (You can copyright choreographic works, which is a fancy way of saying dance moves, separately, so long as the moves are "fixed" in some sense; and a video of the dance moves is also a "fixation.")

The timing is not really vague: all of the moves in the dance are timed to the music, and she plays guitar and claps along with the guitar line and cymbals as well. This is close enough to be a derivative work (rather than dancing with unrelated music in the background).

In any case, my point was, even if they wanted to sue her, they'd lose.

The girlfriend experience, also know as GFE, is probably something you have heard of. Maybe even you, a lonely anon, has partaken in a GFE stream. But, it is a slippery slope, and if you encourage parasocial content like GFE your OpSec better be solid. Doxfags, SEAfags, and other Antis will be attracted to your stream, and your PL, as they specialize in ruining other people hobbies and experience. But, if you are successful in doing proper GFE it can pay off... or does it? Take for example Nene Amano of Kawaii Productions. She has 299,000 subscribers but her average CCV wouldn't even qualify her as a /lig/ger. Why is that? Well, a lot of GFE focuses on ASMR content, kiss and earlick triggers being the most popular. Nene is very good at doing ASMR, but her non-ASMR streams don't attract the same audience. And GFE comes with the risk of attracting unicorns. Iofi is probably the closest you can get to GFE in Hololive and her numbers are the lowest of all of ID. Why? Because she was forced into homocollabs. The most successful GFE streamers (such as FallenShadow) avoid even mentioning men on stream, and it pays off with high CCV. Sure, doing GFE and ASMR can build you a large subscriber base fast, but it's one of the most ruthless and dangerous types of content, with many fans being ready to drop you for even interacting with a man. But, Nene's kisses give me motivation to be productive and not cry myself to sleep, because having a girl tell me I'm enough, even if it isn't real, is what keeps me going sometimes.
