The cosplay LoRA was not the solution, but block merging was. I was able to identify the block that resulted in a mess when combining pony lyco with animagine (block 6) and I am now able to block-merge up to 60% pony unet without the model breaking (75% works as well but worse/requires more fiddling).
It's still not too great at hands if they're not in-focus and I didn't get to play with it too much outside of testing. Maybe ninomae ver. tomorrow.

As for grids on comfy, they exist but they force you to use their own efficient loader and efficient ksampler which for me seems to return really shit results compared to the normal ksampler. Not sure why. But excluding those issues, the grid system itself from the efficiency pack is pretty easy to set-up.

It was honestly just a lucky gen, also Animagine already has great composition if you choose the right prompt setup. I was actually trying to make her eat the gun held with one hand, while another hand is doing a v, but then she did something similar to the end product and I've simply tweaked the prompt until it fit.
Most of the effort went into finding the right token delays and the right blocks in the gun LoRA to deactivate. Pic related was one step of the journey, which was closest to "eating" the gun.

Other models I've tried don't seem to do much different from base pony for the Sara lora. I think the small database of art which always results in a kind of flat looking lora ends up rendering moot much of the tweaking other mixes may do. Low denoise latent upscale also does a lot to fuzzy over the flaws.

Found a table here for SDXL Lyco blocks https://github.com/hako-mikan/sd-webui-lora-block-weight?tab=readme-ov-file#weights-setting , so my 'block 6' was actually IN04 as I was just counting the numbers I could change but did not have their interpretation yesterday. IN04 has a bunch of transformer blocks. Haven't tried weighted merge between models with this block off yet, just with the lyco.
