I believe that the reason why radical remarks run amok on the Internet is a bug in human instinct that makes it difficult to sense the reality of the other person in asynchronous communication by text, and loses empathy for the other person who does not have a sense of reality.

Human beings, who have evolved to live in society through synchronous communication in three-dimensional space, should have the property of cooperating peacefully with those around them. However, text-based asynchronous communication without spatiality such as SNS may not be able to recognize the other person's sense of reality well, and the original failsafe (safety device) that humans have will not work well.

For example, the situation is very different in the metaverse, an online three-dimensional virtual space where I am active. In the large-scale survey "Social VR Lifestyle Survey 2023" conducted by me with Swiss anthropologist Lyudmila Bredykina, 67% of the approximately 2,000 respondents said that "communication in social VR brings the distance between you and the other person closer than in reality"

In my personal experience, there are many cases where people who repeatedly say and do extreme things on social media are surprisingly nice people when they talk to each other face-to-face in the metaverse. In addition, the metaverse also has last resort measures such as muting and blocking, but unlike social media, there are far fewer opportunities to use these. As long as you can recognize the reality of the other person even online, you will be able to communicate sensibly and soundly.

Those that seethe about Beryl see him as an upstart with money to blow on a nice model and a nice mic. They won't acknowledge that he has a naturally good voice for vtubing or a great microphone presence or understands how to interact with chat.
