If price doesn't drop then the short contracts will force the trader to buy however many shares of the stock they were betting on, usually in bundles of 100 shares per contract. This means shorters will be forced to buy at whatever the lowest price is available for sale to meet contract obligations. If no stocks are really trading to force prices down then prices can only go up. My question is how many short contracts were bought over the week? I don't have a trading account but anyone that does can look it up.
