Honestly は is not used that much unless you're going for extremely proper or specific sentences since most of the time you'll just be implying the "subject marker"
For example in 昨日は天気が晴れていた The weather yesterday was clear , you're being specific because you want to connote it was something that happened yesterday so you say 昨日 and は to specify that
But then you have things like 私はフワモコが大好き I love fuwamoco , here you're using は too to specify that you like them, but you can simply say フワモコが大好き since the 私は will be implied
There's also the case of は can only be used for "living things" if it's not being used for the subject marker
Like you can't say 石は落ちた (A rock fell), you have to use が instead, but if it were dog then either は or が work just fine and the only thing they would affect is which side are you putting on more emphasis (the dog or the fact that a dog fell)
And then when describing things は can be seen as you're only admitting to that single thing
For example 気味の声はきれい (your voice is pretty) , here you're using は but by doing that you're implying that ONLY their voice is cute (this is a real thing, I've seen jp holos react to comments like that that used は instead of が)
