If you want an actual answer: Livers have next to no operating cost (especially because Nijisanji doesn't have the pity salary Hololove does), and even the smaller ones can (and do) still catch local sponsorships. If they make up the few thousand Niji spends on the model, which doesn't take much, then they're profitable enough that they have no reason NOT to debut more.

It's like trying to watch a TV show that's in it's 12th season. At this point it's pretty intimidating to try and catch up, and if you try to just jump in you end up confused when they reference stuff you don't know or care about. Of course, hololive has a similar issue, but not nearly as severe due to how much smaller it is.

I got into Hololive around summer of last year and I binge watched clips for almost a week straight to catch up on lore and to find out who the girls were. I would need to do that for like 3 months for Nijisanji. That isn't going to happen. Sorry Nijisanji but having 8 million chuubas discourages new fans from getting invested in your brand.

I pretty much completely avoid VR, which brings down the Nijisanji member count to 150. That's 3 times the member count for Hololive, still a lot but it's not like 3 months to 1 week of clips like you're saying, it's more like 3 weeks to 1 week. Also there's nothing wrong with not understanding some livers you don't care about, Nijisanji doesn't expect you to keep up with everyone. If I know even just 1/4 of the members of a big collab, that's enough to entertain me and I don't usually feel like I have to know everything about the other 3/4.

Yea, nijis treat vtubing as a hobby since they don't get paid. They are not incentivized to improve their streaming quality by outside factors. The position is an intern position, so most of the applicants are students, and once they are close to their final year, they'll have to either take a long break or graduate to study. And once they are back, they'll have to juggle between their full-time jobs and this hobby, and end up streaming less than ten times a month or graduate to pursue their career.
The holos are paid to stream. Vtubing is either a full-time career or a side-gig to them, which is why some people don't mind investing their resources to the girls. There are expectations to be delivered by the talents, and they get criticize a lot when they fail to deliver.
These two companies have different business models, and they are reflected on their talents work cultures. /vt/ posts a lot about niji and holo non-jp branches, but VShoujo is larger than NijiEN and MAHA5 is larger than NijiID. Did you guys know that MAHA5 have debuted their JP branch?

It's not that they don't care, it's just that no matter what they try, their numbers wouldn't change. The new niji ID debut could stream all day for three months and it still couldn't change the fate of <100 views and the whole branch whereas a HoloID could still get >1K views per normal stream, a collab with senpais can get up to >4K and better opportunities in sponsorships since they don't need to compete them with others. Working for Niji is literally working as a part timer. Once you're in, you need to work enough to pay back the model then fuck off afterwards. Merch and Superchats money is petty. The time and effort isn't worth it in the long run. I doubt they're doing this for fun either. I respect Hana for still grinding, but it's a lost cause.
