Was it the best thing that the first exposure most of the West had to vtubers was through Hololive? They have perceptions of vtubers that are simply not true. In Japan most vtubers are not idols nor does the thought really cross their heads to be one. In the West vtuber is synonymous to vtuber and non-idol vtubers have to go out of their way to say they aren't. Hololive, despite being special in Japan, is viewed as the norm. Hololive doesn't live in Japanese vtubers head's rent free, they do in the West. Hololive is special and should be treated as such.
