Vtuber companies are only "competitors" in the loosest sense of the word, like how different movie premieres might be "competing" but there's no reason they can't both be successful. This isn't like a case of having one or the other for most people (e.g. it's not like a phone/car/computer where you buy one at most every few years).
Most (sane) people aren't going to stick exclusively to one vtuber company.
It's true that their consumers have finite time/money, but it's always been weird to me that some people think like this.
