Hell, some of the mainline fans might even lend their voices to such campaigns out of solidarity.
I don't think I've ever seen any "Gastly fans" or "Bulbasaur fans" that are like.. jealous of Pikachu for having so much merch and promotion and stuff. Nor have I seen concerted efforts from such fans to insult Pikachu fans for being "casuals" or whatever (barring the usual underage tards).
I don't think I've seen any such fans asking for their favorite pokemon to be front and center WITH Pikachu in official promotions and shit either.
Most of the "lesser" characters have their own cult like fanbase within the fanbase, and they seem to be fine just being left alone, same with the mainline fans who might find such sub-fanbases weird but will just leave them alone.

I guess maybe it'd be something similar to Star Wars or something? Fans of the original series vs Fans of the Prequels vs Fans of the Sequels & TV series etc... But that whole thing kinda ended up tearing the fanbase into pieces in the end, which seems unlikely with the Holo fanbase - at least as of now..
If there's any anons with a bigger powerlevel or knowledge about such niche franchise shit, could you let me know if this type of scenario has ever happened in other IP-based franchises, and what ended up happening with the minority fanbase?
