Holofes is over and I'm sad. It's always such a great time to spend the entire weekend watching the expo stream and staying up all night watching the actual concerts. Looking forward to next year already. The one thing I want to see them improve next year is the phase in and outs. That is one thing I never really liked about Holofes. I think they should do something more seamless like having them walk on stage or something like that.

This may just be me waxing poetic after the absolute kino we just watched and this is entirely anecdotal but I think there's been a general shift in audience perception since the great EOP boom. When the EOP boom and particularly the EN debuts happened a lot of the attitudes I saw around paying for fes and Holo in general was more of a direct exchange of currency for goods and services, whereas now it's a lot more about supporting your oshi and the box in general. I've know a decent amount of people at the usual places who pay for it despite watching it there. Many of those who watch the restreams are either actually financially incapable of paying for fes or are filthy casuals who would've never paid to begin with. If you manage to convert even some of those into proper fans and the oshi/box pushing attitude infects them by osmosis that's a net gain. It's those fans who buy all the merch, voicepacks, supacha etc.

The biggest thing I never understood has always been the cover songs. Hololive has SO MUCH original music that there is no reason they should ever be singing cover songs. If there is one criticism of the way Hololive does business it would be that. They don't make good enough use of their massive catalog of original music. They could be doing so much more with it.
