Solid. Aside from the obvious dog inspiration on his light ears, mask, tails, and leash necktie, the little dog on the label of his jacket collar is a nice touch. The use of bright orange brings attention to his gloves and the tears in his clothes, highlighting that he's a melee fighter. The heavy amount of hardware (buckles, studs, etc) complement his chains well. I like how the chains on jacket have the star-like piece at his elbows to break it up for visual interest. The metal bit at the end of his braid is also a nice touch.

The oversized hoodie works well for conveying the isekai hero bit. Not a fan of the rest of it. I think the sash under his hoodie is supposed to represent his eagle motif, but its roundedness has no synergy with the rest of his design, which features sharp lines and points. The addition of his light armor adds too much visual clutter, especially at his chest. Perhaps this would be better if it had a translucent base underneath to help separate the armor from his jacket. However, the light pieces at his head are very cute.

His crow motif is immediately established through his cape and hair accessory. I like how the shape of the top of his hair directly mirrors his feather hair pin. The finer details of his outfit add visual interest without feeling like they're fighting each other for the spotlight. I especially like how the gold on his outfit adds texture, but the muted tone prevents it from looking garish. There's also a subtle brocade-like print on his white top.

Garish to the max, perfect for a jester. I saw a Bettel fanart a couple months before I knew who he was and immediately thought "who's this assclown?" Memorably obnoxious through the gaudiness of his coat's prints, yet still cohesive through design elements. I like the use of striping; there's the obvious stripes on his coat, but you also have the impression of stripes through the folds of his neckbow and pinstripes on his hat. Same thing with diamonds; there's the obvious diamond print on the coat, but they also appear on his neckbow and hat. Also, he looks like a whore when you take off his coat. Thank you, senzaki-mama.

Ronin vibe only comes out through his hat, which he never uses. Otherwise, he's just...there? No motifs really stick out to me through the design since all the repeating ones are too small to notice. Arguably, the fan-shaped lapel pins, earrings, and hairpin reflect the same of the hat, but again, they're too subtle. I didn't notice until now that he has a blue sash next to his blue hand because they blend together too much.

With Flay, I feel like it would win more points if the texture of the body suit was more like the stuff on this legs than the transuclent bit on his torso/groin. Half-jacket + cape is a great idea in theory, but it just doesn't work in Shouken-sensei's style, who just loves exposing skin in "interesting" ways on their female/boyish designs. Overall it feels like the artist focused too hard on the "boyish" part of the inital "boyish pilot" concept given to them and things got muddled. Shouken-sensei's ikemen tend to look better so I wonder would Flay's design would look better if she designed him more adult-like.

I wouldn't even say that the exposed skin on Flayon is terribly unusual for "boyish" designs, just poorly executed. It looks like it's going for the usual shorts and calf socks with garters, but combining it with the bodysuit makes it look like a swimsuit and...something.
I'm guessing the bodysuit is supposed to be NGE plug suit inspired? Upon further examination, it looks like the tail is a wire connected to a port in the back, but it's covered by the jacket. Adding more of the opaque parts of the bodysuit would help, but I think it needs more so it doesn't just look like a swimsuit. Maybe moving the liquid capsules on the shoulder of his jacket onto his torso? Somehow, ALL of the printed motifs seen on the right of his ref sheet are packed into that spot.

Got around to listening to Ruze’s White Day voice pack. It’s actually the first time I’ve listened to a holiday or themed voice pack from any of the boys.
