I could actually see it happening - maybe not 1on1, but as part of a larger collab with other vtubers (one ACTUALLY put together properly). I've seen Urara and Char in Pomu's chats and tweets, Miori did music mixing for Pomu's previous life, and Yuuna hangs out in one of the NijiKR chats.

I'd love to see it since I like both HoloEN and NijiEN more or less, but it seems doubtful since they're in such direct competition for the same market. Doesn't make marketing sense to give a boost to your rival (especially not to Hololive considering they're so far ahead in subs/viewership.) Collabing with an indie like Pikamee makes more sense.

Then again, they've both already had VShojo collabs so who the fuck knows.

Not that the collabs would be good. As stated, niji en are insufferably boring and a little unpolished. But they'd still be a safe, low risk breath of fresh air (who are all bound by their own corporate accountability) outside the hololive bubble. Because I'm gonna be honest, Ame's apex collabs alone are garbage. She can't speak nip and they can't speak English. It's all terribly stiff. Except with the indos, who aren't necessarily as good at apex or English in the first place. Gura's trashcat collab? Dumpster fire. Ina's jp collabs? Good for her, but hard filtering to her own supposed target demographic of English speakers.

Ame/Selen Apex, Gura/Fina Mario Kart, and Ina/Pomu/Hana/Zea PSO2 would presumably feature good enough chemistry that the streams wouldn't spontaneously combust. Hololive and Vshojo aren't as heavily in competition as Holo and Niji since Vshojo uses Twitch.
If mixer proved anything it was that a majority of people are more loyal to platform than streamer.
In other words, when the platforms are different there is much less risk of viewers defecting.

The problem with Selen is that she's almost too good at Apex to collab with a lot of people. As soon as she showed up, people from all over were begging for collabs. She's not completely against this, but if it just ends up with her putting up a show, what's the point of the collab? I'm sure she'd do it occasionally if she's having fun, but then you need to have the two vtubers have some kind of chemistry for it to not turn into a frustrating experience. Amelia tends to withdraw even with people she's known a while, and unless they have done some kind of other behind the scenes interaction I can't see that changing. Although I feel like they have a similar sarcastic sense of humor that borders on mean, so if they did open up maybe it'd be alright.

Depends on how the humor meshes. Ame basically goes into excuse overdrive, while Selen says a lot of stuff that might be correct, but in the most demeaning way possible while laughing. Neither of them are mean as they sound, but it could get really bad if they take some of that stuff the wrong way. It's one of those things where you might want to do test runs with offstream.
