Some lows are unseeable but the penalty for tanking them is usually not high, unless it's a counter hit. The seeable lows you should try to block or parry on reaction just like throw breaks. A lot of lows are just knowing the character, especially strings that have lows in them rather than just reacting to the first move, and trying to download your opponent and when they like to throw them out.

A few days ago Haitani, sf6 pro, was playing with master rank streamers in SF6 who play modern, to help them improve.
Haitani played seriously although using characters other than his main Chun Li, and Pururu defeated him twice in ft3. Pururu improved a lot since she became a master, very motivated.
Separate note, Karubi likes SF6 but she never thought about setting an objective, she sees it as a game that is good to manage to participate in events. Now that her "rival" Pururu has reached master and improved a lot, she feels a little pressure to still improve as she herself mentioned.
