Actually, I just rewatched the return stream and she didn't say anything about a newspaper. Apparently, someone was deliberately mistranslating it in a previous thread and I believed them because I had missed the beginning and others were agreeing with him.
So unless you have a source that she leaked an album release date, I'm going to have to assume you're bullshitting as well.

If it really was only something like leaking an album date or whatever, then there's a host of other things they could do besides outright fire her. Giving her a 3 month or even 6 month suspension would have accomplished the same thing, but shown that they aren't heartless and valued her contribution to hololive over the last 6 years. Terminating her means upsetting fans and destroying your own investments, so it isn't worth going that far over something minor like leaking an unannounced release date.

And I think they know that too, which is why I think whatever it was that she leaked had to do with either unfair special treatment by management towards other girls for various possible reasons, or it had to do with personal information or relationships of other talent or staff. Or possibly even special treatment for specific talents because of such relationships. It had to have been something bad enough that made someone high up angry to the point of wanting to get rid of her.
Keep in mind that the reason Mel leaked information to a friend is because she was incredibly upset about something and needed to talk to someone about it. Mel's firing seems to be the personal decision of a single person, as everyone else has only said nice things about her and are sad that this is happening.

The other reason I think this is the case is because unlike with Rushia, where Cover announced what type of information she leaked, this time, they purposefully left those details out of the announcement. We don't even know what kind of information she leaked because no one ever published it. The purpose of making such a vague statement is so that they aren't cornered into confirming whatever the information was if it does eventually leak. That degree of caution suggests the leaked information was something personal, embarrassing, or damaging to the company's reputation, rather than technical, financial, or operational information.

If you wanted to be uncharitable, Rushia/Mike might be the reason why Mel got fired. The way the termination notice was worded was that they both got fired for pretty much the same thing. While they obviously didn't want to actually fire Mel, the precedent was set by Rushia's firing, and for the sake of legal consistency and Japanese Corpo autism they had to or undermine the company itself. A tragedy all around.

My rrat is its related to her long delayed solo concert she has been wanting to do for years and probably vented about Suisei or someone else getting a solo concert this year and not her despite her being 'in line' for years now waiting. She mentioned her goals for this year and a solo concert was noticeably absent as a goal and instead she had as a goal a fan meeting. I believe Cover more or less told her they didn't see a concert of her own as financially viable and told her to just wait for her 1 million wish and get it that way. She probably discussed someone else's solo concert this year that hasn't been made known publicly yet.
