Why is he changing models again? His current one seems perfectly fine.

The only reason I dont stick around and give people advice is because I don’t have any to give. Except for the obvious ones:

1. No one likes an edgy asshole in real life. They’re fine in shows but you will quickly be ostracized if you rely on being a dick as your kayfabe.

2. Don’t be afraid to say no to collab with people you don’t know. Especially bigger collabs because it will give you nothing. Also you’re absolutely just a number to them.

3. Vtubing isn’t a place to make friends. You’ll make friends over time but only because you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of people. Let it come naturally and don’t assume someone is your friend just because you say hi to each other.

4. Allow yourself to be burned once by another vtuber. If they keep screwing you over or missing dates for collabs dump them. You don’t need someone who considers you an afterthought.

5. The only people who care about SOVL and Kino are /here/ and they are few. If your model is ugly or weird don’t expect people to flock to you cause you’re different. The vast majority of viewers want to watch an aesthetically pleasing anime in the corner of the gameplay.

To add to #5, it’s impressive from a technical perspective if you make all your assets yourself but literally no one is going to watch a vtuber on that premise alone. Sure, it’s cool that you built your own sets for your c-tier homemade movie but no one will attend your screening just because of that.

This is a shallow hobby where eyecatchers thrive. Don’t work hard, work smart, and if you’re gifted with money or talent you will come farther. Even more so if you have a vagina. Ultimately it’s still up to luck whether you’ll make it but you can stack the odds more in your favor by getting high quality stuff and knowing who your target audience is.

You seem to be mistaking the idea that having Hololive tier production values is important in keeping your audience which requires a shitton of money which you obviously do not have right now.

Chat interaction is a skill, fun stream gimmicks are just something you have to learn how to do through tutorials from shindigs and is free. All it takes is time.
Sub badges, emotes, starting/ending screens do not need any real money, your audience does not really care if you spent hundreds on something like that or not. Just a shoddily drawn one will be good enough and your audience will appreciate your efforts.

In just a week alone you've built up a decent enough community that loves you for what you do, you do not need to rush. Also as mentioned before, you should look into getting a PNG drawn by an artist and using that temporarily until you get a model. A png is far superior and less resource intensive using modern PNG programs. You can find any artists here who can make one for you easily without much of a budget. As for your live2D, you need to look for good/cheap artists and riggers and you can find asian artists to get to do one for you under $500 in total if you know where to look. Just improve your stream step by step and you'll get there.

The algorithms on X are semi-public and there are a good number of well known ways to get more impressions and likes. Here are a few things I do to get some of the best impressions/likes per follower among the vtubers that I know.

1. Don't post too much. One time a day is the sweet spot, but you can go over sometimes.
2. Always post high quality, a badly performing tweet will cause the algorithm to show your tweets to fewer people next time.
3. Post images/gifs/videos with your tweet, preferably good ones. The algorithm will show your tweets to more people purely by including an image or video.
4 Things that can cause the algorithm to think you are a low value account: regularly linking to offsite content (INCLUDING YOUR TWITCH ACC!), posting NSFW images or linking to NSFW websites (even marking a SFW image as NSFW for a joke could cause this), saying a lot of bad words, talking about taboo political stuff, following too many people (try not to follow more people than follow you, supposedly following a total of 60% of the number of people that follow you is ideal)
5. Try not to interact too much with low value accounts. If the algorithm associates you with low value accounts it might start to treat you like a low value account (not giving you impressions)

Is there a term for the sort of character design that's not attractive or cute in the source material but is only ever drawn attractive and cute in fanart?
I know it's a thing and surely there's a word for it I can use when describing this half-baked idea for a model I have.

I'm not entirely comfortable with trying to pass myself off as some kind of ikemen anime boy (even though that's been proven to be the best option 99/100 times) but obviously I can't have an ugly, shitposty avatar either because it wouldn't capture anyone's interest.
So I had this idea of having a model that's not strictly speaking attractive or cute but can also be perceived as cute by fanartists and maybe enough auto-gas-lighting.

I've been terminally online since 2002, been about everywhere you can be on the internet, and I'm 100% convinced vtubing has the highest percentage of overtly hostile / borderline deranged people. It really depends on how hard you want to go.
20%: eyes, (look to dslr lenses for inspiration) robomimi, antenna, at this point, aside from some minor oddities, they still look "human"
40%: Hereabouts is when you start getting "robot girls", obvious joints, panel lines, inhuman accenting, they're clearly not "human", but wouldn't be noticeable from afar, and can take steps to pass for human close up. Aigis from p3 is a good example.
60%: Clearly not "human", even at a casual glance, odd-colored skin/hair, abhuman proportions, generally the only thing that's definitively attempting to be "human" is the face, everything else is just approximate. Sonny from the film version of I, Robot (read the short stories instead) is a good example, if he wasn't so fucking bald
80%: drossel, tv-heads, an effort is made to hew to the "human" bodyplan, but nothing that could be mistaken as organic. This is generally what westerners go for when they design a "robot girl", but winds up being much more robot than girl
100%: EVA from wall-e, generally it's going to be smooth lines and flowing form that marks them as "female", but only in an abstract sense
