>that shouldn't be hard at all. i can do this for you, just list the cases you want and i can get to work on declensions, same with conjugations
I am not sure what cases would be good for this. Maybe it would be better to like use a particle system for cases like in japanese instead of conjugating them in the word like finnish. I think it can easily get really clunky maybe, I am not sure. What do you think? There are not many words in my dictionary yet, but i made a few to like kind of showcase how the script words just so you can like get a taste of it
>what we can maybe do is make it so that there're special morphological changes to words to make them into abstract adjectives of their main properties? like if we changed "father" to "fatherly
I really like this idea. Maybe we can like make it so the language only is made up of nouns, and you have to bend them to get adjectives and verbs. like instead of saying "he is speaking" you would say "he is word-ing"
>like [j] and [w] which have their own symbols not correlating to any of the three vowel categories. i don't know if this is what you meant or not. if so this also shouldn't be hard

Surprisingly a lot. Japanese curry is based on the British version of curry. British curry is not as spicy as Indian curry. Also British curry has potatoes. Modern Japanese curry is also pre-packaged. Meaning the curry spices are prepared in advance in cubes and bars. Then all you have to do is fry veggies and meat then boil in water. Also Japanese curry tastes better with beef and pork while Indian curry is best on chicken.

Turns out there's no one recipe for curry. There's many variations of different spice mixes and how much of each spice you use. Malaysian curry is different because its mixed with coconut chicken when cooking. Curry is the pizza of Asia where you use whatever spices you have to make it. Japanese curries are roux-based and tend to be on the soupier end of the spectrum. Indian curries tend to use the spices themselves, onions or yogurt as a thickener. Japanese curry is actually more british than indian in some ways.
Curry basically started out in the Indus Valley in 2600BC, and from there spread naturally to SEA (where using coconut and coconut milk was introduced) and the middle east, but it didn't reach Japan. It took all the british empire shenanigans, them taking curries back to the UK, and then starting to export them worldwide to introduce curries to Japan during the Meiji Restoration, iirc. That's why Japanese curry uses a more western technique like a roux, and why it's commonly used in the form of long-lasting cubes, which were often used to feed sailors of the Royal Navy.

Lots of mixing and freezing stuff. Do you like raw meat and fish? That'll be most of your diet. If you can chew frozen meat and fish that'll be the best way to preserve them. In theory you can eat dry aged steak and salted pork raw. Though marinating will be the best way to cure meat as enough acid will kill bacteria. There's reciped for raw marinated meat dishes if you look. The biggest risk to uncooked meat is parasites. Which if you freeze the meat then the ice-crysyals will kill almost all parasites. And if you have instant absolute zero freezing you can freeze meat before it starts decaying.

Your marinades, sauces, and soft foods are going to have be made from fermenting things. Though fermenting requires room temperature which risks growing bacteria. Which is why a lot of fermented stuff requires cooking to cure it before bottling. Without heat alcohol will be your sterilization. I'm sure you can spec-bio a high sugar crop that ferments into rubbing alcohol.

Ohh right, there are lots of ways to tenderize stuff besides heat. Marinades, dry aging, fermentation are all good ones. Now that I think about it there's also stuff like enzymes. And flash freezing can be the parasite/pathogen-killing process. Thanks for the idea, I think I can come up with a cuisine now.

forgetting whether or not we're doing particles vs fixes, there are a few obvious cases we may need if we're going the agglutinative route (such as japanese or finnish): nominative, accusative, dative (optional, though pretty much required for a particle-based system), locative/lative, and genitive/possessive.

In the heart of Tuihovyn, where the ancient rocks kiss the sky,
Lies a tale of a girl named Mei, under Sematol's watchful eye.
Born amidst the towers of carbonate grace,
Where the river Tuih whispers secrets of the place.

Mei wandered through streets carved in stone,
Where legends of lightning and statues were known.
In the City of Angels, where faith intertwined,
With the hum of the ships and the ocean's kind.

Her childhood echoed with the thunder's roar,
As lightning danced upon the forest floor.
In the shadow of statues, she sought refuge and lore,
From the tales of old and the legends galore.

With each passing day, Mei grew strong and wise,
In the land where the misty forest lies.
She learned the ways of the sea and sky,
In Tuihovyn's embrace, where dreams could fly.

Amidst the bustling port and ships of trade,
Mei found solace in the stories that never fade.
Of pirates and mercenaries, a world so wild,
Where order was kept, but justice beguiled.

In the heart of the city, amidst towers tall,
Mei found her place, standing proud and tall.
A daughter of Sematol, with tales to tell,
In Tuihovyn's embrace, where all was well.

Through the storms and the sunshine, Mei thrived,
In a land where magic and mystery arrived.
With lightning crystals gleaming, a treasure rare,
She found her purpose, beyond compare.

In Tuihovyn's cradle, Mei made her mark,
In the City of Angels, where shadows embark.
A girl of Sematol, with a spirit untamed,
In the embrace of the archipelago, forever named.

As Mei grew older, she became a beacon of hope,
In a city where dreams and ambitions elope.
She rose through the ranks, with determination strong,
A leader among the people, where she belonged.

In the heart of Tuihovyn, Mei's legacy grew,
A symbol of resilience, through and through.
In the City of Angels, where stories thrive,
Mei's name echoed, keeping dreams alive.

Through trials and triumphs, she stood tall,
In the embrace of her city, answering the call.
A daughter of Sematol, with a spirit untamed,
Mei's tale continues, forever acclaimed.

They weren't since slaves suck at rowing, just that they happen to be a decent source of manpower when you're scrambling for extra hands regardless of skills (like when Rome was duking out with Carthage). If anything the fall of ERE was followed by a period where multiple Mediterranean powers made use of galériens for their fleets that lasted for a century or two until technology caught up (it took longer in some places)

A few bulletpoint ideas for /vtwbg/'s island:
>It is known as Lorelei Island
>Geologically, the island is the remnants of an ancient rocky formation
>The coastline is inhospitable for most of its length, with treacherous shoals and submerged boulders making approach risky.
>On the top of the island's plateau, what soil there is is thin and unsuited to fruitful agriculture, so the main sources of sustenance are small scale fishing, or pastoral in nature.
>On the top of a monolith found in the East is found the ruins of the ancient Temple of the Archives, which had gone abandoned for centuries by the time of the story.

The coast is no good for settling. However if you can have a cliff without too many rocks you can build a port in the rockface. The port would be high enough to get to the bridges of galleon sized ships easy. Since you're relying on fishing you'll need a dock.

That said the island is going to have to provide a service that would justify its import economy. A Galapagos-like checkpoint where traveling ships can resupply fish stock would be pretty good immediate commerce. The archiving of the world's library would be more for scholars and elites.

>> No.70785923

>>70785376
Yeah, I'm thinking the island has pretty limited intrinsic economic worth to justify it being abandoned for a few centuries (In case it wasn't obvious, the island being abandoned for a while reflects the thread being dead for a few months). So being a resupply checkpoint + offering tertiary sector services would be a good way to do it. The seaside approach being risky would probably mean the resupplying services have to be offered more cheaply to compensate, but it's not like we're looking at an economic powerhouse here lol.

>> No.70786702

>>70785923
You'll need the port to have boats in the water at least. And there's "some" agriculture but nothing commercial. Its more like there's a few fruit trees in fertile spots like coconuts and guava just to have some vitamin C. And maybe you can grow some rice in a paddy along with some medicinal plants. But its only enough to feed the locals. Raising birds for eggs would be a much easier food source. Assuming we can get birds that can lay big enough eggs. If not then importing chickens is essential.

Just for the fun of it I read a little bit about dodos. Dodos are related to doves and pigeons. They weren't fat and clumsy. Instead they were fairly mobile with getting around on two feet eating ground fruits and seeds. They swallowed pebbles which is stored in the gizzard to grind food after swallowed. That said pigeons aren't the smartest birds. But they are cute and domesticated. So /vtwbg/ dodos would be in the middle of domestication. They're too wild to train but they're tame enough to raise in captivity. Our dodos can even have a mild temper around humans. That said dodos live in forests. So we'll have to raise them to feed off of crops. There might be some forest area left. Soil maybe poor for farming but trees can still thrive. Maybe the woods overgrew on the old ruins of /vtwbg/.

I also read about how fungus cracked stone by dissolving them with acid. A lot of trees in forests have root and fungus networks. So the inner woods slowly expand outward to the stones thanks to tropical fungus roots.

That said the orchard forest has a good variety of fruits, rice, and buckwheat to sustain the dodos. Assuming there's no invasive predators. But unlike the Dutch /vtwbg/ has taken a liking to dodos. And the dodos learn to live around people for protection. And unlike the extinct dodos these lay 2-3 eggs per clutch thanks to domestication efforts. Dodos do have good meat, but they don't reproduce as fast as chickens do. So chickens are the primary food source next to fish.

There should also be a stone quarry. Plastered stone is just as good as ceramic bricks if you can vent the building. Building materials will be for another time. We'll need a culture now.

The "bulking" is basically a rapid accumulation of water weight, so it depends on humidity and water intake. If the deadbeat chugged four liters of water and walked into the freezer the change would be pretty quick, you could probably observe the muscles and tissues swelling up visibly, it'd take a few hours to reach the new equilibrium. If the deadbeat had an empty stomach but the freezer had very moist air, the accumulation would be slower but still pretty fast, as the humidity would be absorbed through the skin and especially the lungs, in those conditions probably a day or two to reach equilibrium.
If the air is dry and the deadbeat is completely dehydrated, there would be no visible effects until one of those things change. Though a freezer in a tropical area would have humidity levels at saturation, so that would probably be the second scenario.

I was thinking about >>70721231 when I read >>70774323 and remembered salamoim won’t look like archetypical hags since they’re like a feet shorter than average and has a shorter lifespan. I figured if it’s Sematol then foreigners would be pretty common so I started thinking about Mei being neither salamoim nor human and deadbeat’s the first thing that came to mind. The fact that deadbeats feel more at home at freezing temperature (or at least feel prettiest) also helps with book preservation since cold storage slows down chemical processes (especially compared to the hot and humid environment of coastal /vnug/) and they don’t have to take the books outta cold storage to study them. I then started wondering how long it would take for a skeletal deadbeat to change their appearance after going outside (then again /vnug/’s known for insulating clothes…) so I decided to ask just in case I wanna do something with that idea

When they are available and when they are good quality. Sometimes you have access to neither. Like in the Great Plains there's not really a lot of forests to chop down. And stone quarries are rare. Also the food rotated a lot around the plains and stone was heavy to carry around. So the natives built their tents out of buffalo hides and bones. And sometimes on the river there's not enough time to tile a roof out of bark or clay. So they cut reeds and straw to build thatch roofs. Thatch is a cheap material to use for roofing if you need a roof fast. Though thatch is prone to catching fire. Which is why thatch is banned as a building material in towns and cities.

Paper might be an unusual building material in the west. But in Japan it's common for interior walls. Specifically rice paper. And Japan has earthquakes common. So they always build their homes with easy to replace materials. Stone is an expensive and brittle material in Japan. And the only iron they have is from sand.

I was actually thinking of writing about it before stuff happened
The most common building materials in /vnug/ would be lumber and limestone (plus other sedimentary rocks) since they’re plentiful and easy to work! Limestone, dolomite and gypsum are more commonly used in underground cities and building interior since they’re not as durable in the hot and humid climate of /vnug/ while marble’s sometimes used for fancy buildings since it’s more durable and pretty. Alabaster of all kinds are also used for interior to give the environment more variety! In more technologically advanced settlements you can probably see a lotta pipes of bronze and brass lining the walls as well
Lumber is used more often in the lowland since there’s where the forest is at. The natural moisture resistance of trees grown there also makes them a better material than the soluble rocks. I imagine /vnug/ often lacquer their wood products to make them withstand the elements better too. Overall I think /vnug/ buildings will look paler on the outside while the inside’s more colorful and ornate

I just had another thought. I'm considering other vendors and restauraunts around Divegrass Stadium. Which is why I'm focusing on snacks rather than meals. The competition will most likely be things like barbecue skewers, rotisseri meals, and noodle bowls. So I'm carving a niche for "space snacks". And you can't get more space age snacks than pre-packaged potato crisps and cheese puffs.

>> No.70859792

fun fact, apparently based on the cave formation of the worlds, the generic "stone" found in minecraft is limestone. This gives a pretty good idea of the appearance of /vnug/ buildings, thanks.

I'm trying to research colonial era building stuff. In the US buildings were primarily made from wood, stone, and brick. Though once settlers started moving west wood became much more scarce. So the settlers dug their homes in the ground called dougouts. Dougouts were similar to houses in the shire but they were more holes with support than houses topped with dirt and grass.

Only if the soil is clay enough. If the soil's too dry and dusty it'll collapse. Dugouts don't last too long without support. Even then it's better to build homes on top eventually.
