We've seen a good few people doing retro and people are okay with it. I think you have to carry the stream as it's old clunky games so you better be ready to talk up a storm. Dark souls is solid (depending on which one you play) I've been considering playing it myself.

The monotony would only really be for you. If you stream retro games as an identity. It makes sense that people would go to your stream to watch retro, so they wouldn't need a change of pace. And if you think 'streaming retro might get boring for my audience' then is focusing solely on retro the right idea?

The big issue everyone is struggling with is that youtube or any 3rd party platform really impressions are very difficult to convert into twitch views. No one really knows how to do it consistently so they may be working their ass off making all that content on their own and getting nowhere. I never reached the point of crying but I can definitely relate with being insecure while driving with an instructor.
I had moments where I'd be simultaneously angry and deeply ashamed that I can't do something every single troglodyte apparently can.
In truth it's because of two things.
1. Having someone tell you how to drive is the most annoying thing in the world and the more annoyed you are the worse you drive, at some point an instructor is like a driving debuff
2. It really is just about practice, if you do it regularly you'll reach a point where it's just second nature.
In my country you need to have a driving instructor for a minimum of 30 (I think) lessons, then you get to drive only with an accompanying driver for the first 4-ish months and THEN you get to drive alone.
My first time driving alone was when my parents drove to the airport to go on vacation and I drove the car back, I was mortified but when every drive after that was much easier because I got that confidence boost of

I have no doubt that even now you're not the worst driver on the road, it's just confidence and when it comes to driving a lack of confidence is better than over confidence because a lack of confidence can be fixed without risking serious injury and death to yourself and others, overconfidence not so much.

Long drives are scary until you take a long drive for the first time.
Night drives are scary until you take a night drive alone for the first time.
In fact, there's this bridge in the mountains I take when going home to my parents and I was terrified of that fucker because at night the combination of how steep it is, how fast we're going (over 110kph) and the fact there are lights on mountains I can't see got me so disoriented the first time I went through I genuinely thought I'm going to die and had to stop when I could to take long, deep breaths.
Now this bridge is just another thing to deal with.

I had a similar problem when I started streaming, reading aloud really slowly and articulating every word helped me a lot both on fixing some words I was mispronouncing and getting into the habit of slowing my speaking speed. You could even pick a topic and start talking about it aloud, if you get stumped on a word or you start speeding up your speech just take a deep breath and slow yourself down.

And even if you dislike your voice you should record yourself whenever you do voice training, it helps you understand if you're making progress.

What does this mean

The truth of the matter is that streaming is just massively oversaturated at this point. A new streamer that is good at what they are doing can easily stagnate for a really long time with what looks like no hope of ever growing. On the other hand the number of very popular streamers that are legit garbage at streaming is shocking if you look. The two biggest reasons any random 3 view on twitch has thier viewers is that they have been streaming for a long time or that they were lucky somewhere along the way.

Thankfully if you just keep at it, plugging away at your content, networking, and outreach you can work on both aspects at the same time. Build up your follower numbers. Meet new people. Just keep on going. You never know when you will hit your big break. Some of the top streamers on twitch didnt let their lack of skill and frankly garbage content keep them from succeeding. Don't let it stop you.

Today I tried to fuck around in Vtube Studio and I was humbled by:

reductive take, it has to do with personality and having chatters who mesh with your personality as well as the streamer's willingness to give some leeway to chat, but I've seen basically every possible type of chatter/streamer dynamic there is. good talkers with slow chat, bad talkers with fast chat, absolutely atrocious unwatchable people with an army of simps because of memes, etc

My own regulars are pretty varied at the moment. They'll come around for everything, but I've got one that just nods at all of my takes, one that's more active on specific games, so on and so forth. If you're a talky sociable person, you'll also get talky sociable people in your chat. I think people shouldn't be so concerned about trying to have as much chatters as anyone else as long as the people who do stick around are entertained in some way.

I've been partner for awhile, and the best thing you can do with your channel first is focus on the core basics. Once you can talk to your chat, and do it well than you are ready to start tackling things that will be ready to craft your channel into something special. Do something that you really enjoy like arts and crafts, music anything really.
