And the people that can speak Japanese don't use this shithole, they lurk 5ch.

Learning core 10k's worth of Kanji and words takes a year, less if you're taking it really seriously, and that'll get you up to reading that. Well, most of it, I had to look up 胃潰瘍.

But this place is almost all EOPs that can't even understand spoken JP, you're not wrong there.

QRD:
Polka has very openly been struggling for migraines for years. She used to stream much more frequently and would often cancel or move streams around citing "barometric pressure" making her feel unwell (it's a common thing in japan to conflate chronic headaches with changing airpressure). Their frequency is part of what pushed her to stream less and focus more on behind-the-scenes work like Polden and so on. She's talked about this issue a lot.
She's been medicating these migraines with over the counter painkillers and developed gastroenteritis from long-term use. This eventually caused an ulcer, which got infected, which got bad enough to send her to the hospital.
While short-term she's cutting down on painkillers, the hospital is also helping her diagnose the root cause of the migraines. Her second hospital visit was for testing. Right now all she knows is that her blood pressure has abnormal spikes and this is likely contributing to the problem, but based on the test results she'll likely be pursuing further treatment.

Yes? Obviously learning hiragana at least will speed things up but you could run all your resources through romanization tools if you wanted to.

It's a very easy to listen to language thanks to its simple phonetics, all you need is the grammar (which is admittedly tricky) and a few hundred words and you can start picking things up.

Friend of mine is decent enough to enjoy watching streamers and understand my japanglish when I can't figure out to say a similar idea in english, all from watching vtubers since 2019~. Haven't made him take a test or like properly quizzed him, but he's at minimum around N3. Only proper active study I know he's done is learning hiragana and katakana which is braindead easy. Your time is now king, start using that brain to understand anime women

I just assumed that if you're willing to go through the trouble of learning a language as autistic as Japanese that you would at least want to be able to read a single panel of a manga, or maybe even just a menu. It doesn't take that long to learn how to read the most common few hundred words. But hey it's up to you.

My brain is not your brain, it may take more effort on your part, but it's not as impossible as people pretend it is.
Also learn kanji and readings as part of words, not in isolation (anki core decks are good for this) and learn the radicals as you go. And don't bother learning to write them by hand unless you have a reason you'll need to, it'll help you remember them but you'll spend more time than you save.
