It's been stuck at 90% completion for over 2 months. All I need to write is the falling action and wrap things up but I guess I'm not too confident about the plot of the whole thing. It feels like it needs another 10k words for some of the characters in the story to feel fully fleshed out and for the ending to feel deserved, but it's also way too long as it is. I don't know how to describe it properly but this felt real nice to read. It kinda reminds me of the kids books I used to read when I was younger, not that I used to read books on displacement and genocide but more of how the fic was structured and told; it was comforting to read in an odd sense. I'm not sure if that was your intention but I really enjoyed this.

Also that's one hell of a segway in a cover high spin-off/sequel, got an audible gasp outta me. Also made me remember that Ayame is meant to be a student council president. Really looking forward to what else you got in store.

This was an extra comfy read. A perfect kind of read for a Saturday morning. I also really liked your world building snippets here and there. It's a nice bit of flavor that I always enjoy sampling. I really enjoyed how you set the pacing and it flowed pretty naturally.
Ayame's comfort and love for her father came across in spades, which made the later result all the more hard hitting, and what comes eventually after even more rewarding. I was not expecting the cover high spin off angle. It caught me off guard in a good way, that was really rad.

Today I wrote some very disjointed dialogue that was more of an outline for an idea of
ripping off Library of Ruina wholesale and retreading the protagonist avenging HoloX for his wife's death
the kind of original thing that Laplus is a thoughtform that was kind of stuck in in the limbo of being a clueless child with an unleashed powerful evil side. She was used by some evil corp but your wife stole her from the corp. She disappeared and basically fused herself with Laplus to have her properly develop. She had her ego and the members of HoloX subtly influence her and kind of mellow her out, both releasing her lore restraints a bunch but making her reconsider the evil ways. but it still relied on the concepts of the aforementioned title

I think you should focus on what's chilling for the situation.
For example, i find witchcraft and that shit far more scary than jumpscare or slashers but that's because i have a really deep fear of the unknown and being lost in the woods. For me, its scary to be there in the woods and you dont hear the animals, you dont feel the insects and you are all alone...and then you hear another thing breathing. Or you go through a field and there's dolls nailed to signposts (which is creepy) but every doll resembles you or a friend or family (downright terrorific).

Focus on those things and further them. Dont go "oh this is scary, in it goes!" instead go "okay this thing...how can it be scary? what element would it help be terrifiying?".
