Hololive and Amelia Watson scammed an artist:

Amelia Watson from Hololive reached out to me via DM in 2021 for a potential commission of a music video featuring her cover of the song "Purupuru Pururin." There were some communication issues between Watson, her manager, and me. Watson, through Twitter DM, was uncertain about her vision for the video, while her manager, on Discord, was unsure about the budget since we didn't have a clear understanding of Watson's requirements. Another challenge was the cultural difference between Hololive, a Japanese company, and myself. I had to adhere to Japanese copyright laws for this commission.

Despite these challenges, I remained optimistic about the project. However, the music video only made it to the concept stage, and the character sheet created for the project was rejected by Watson's manager and Hololive's legal department due to copyright issues. Japanese copyright laws prevented me from recreating the "Purupuru Pururin" animation without the original animators' permission. Watson and her manager had to discuss and redefine the commission, but after some back and forth, the project fell apart.

Months later, when I followed up with them, they abruptly ended communication without any formal termination of the commission, leaving me feeling ignored and disappointed. Initially, I felt terrible about the entire situation, as both Watson and Hololive seemed to have ghosted me. This experience deeply affected my mental state, leading me into a negative spiral. I developed resentment towards Hololive and most of the members in the English branch.

However, nowadays, I find myself in a better headspace. I no longer hold a grudge against Watson because I understand that her actions were likely driven by professional considerations. However, I cannot say the same about Hololive. I still hold a small grudge against the company for what I perceive as a lack of professionalism.

I am sharing this story to relieve myself of the burden it has been causing. Initially, I believed that staying professional and keeping silent for two years was the right approach. However, after much reflection, I asked myself, "Why should I maintain professionalism when the company did not show professionalism towards me?"

I refrained from discussing this matter because I signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with the company. However, considering that it has been around two years and it is unlikely that Hololive will come across this post, I feel confident enough to share it now.
