i understand this is, overall, a very good thing for them, and it should have been obvious from the start that this was going to happen. when they suddenly announced it, i felt a sudden rush of mixed feelings. looking at chat's overflowing support (a good thing of course) while i had mixed feelings about it, made me feel like the black sheep. i can't help but feel concerned that some things are going to change permanently, and not particularly for the better for us/eops. even tho i rarely try to interact with them in twitter, youtube, or anywhere else, i always liked the fact that they were so interactive/open with us. it sucks that we won't be in, or near the same timezones anymore because for a lot of us, our lives were in sync. that probably won't be the case from here on out, or at least, it'll be increasingly difficult for them, and i fear they'll eventually will have to make a compromise in the future.

I learned a reasonable level of jp (around N3 level, but focused on common streamer vocab means I can understand every Holo bar Raden) in about 2 years. I'm not sure if its the standard learning method now, but I started by following the https://djtguide.neocities.org/ guide.The djt will give you a solid foundation to work from until you start making your own Anki (flashcard) mining decks.
There are a ton of resources and youtube guides online to get you started - but you shouldn't waste too much time trying to find the 'perfect' plan, and instead just start learning. Once I got into the rhythm, I found it surprisingly fun and engaging to improve myself, day by day.
Depending on how dedicated you are, you can probably follow along with a FWMC jp collab stream within 5 months - by focusing on the most common vocab in the 2k core Anki deck. Grammar and speaking won't be important for you if you only care about listening.
From my own experience, he's roughly how I learned.
