I'm on a ds3 high so I need a ringed city-esque relic of the past somewhere and an untouched mountaintop seems like a no brainer for that, real shame the biggest range got taken already. Would like it to be the highest tho, a claim to be the closest to the stars would play nicely into /nasa/.

If Sanallites have gravity magic would a space elevator be possible? Would a space elevator have too much effect on the environment?

>> No.70251220

>>70251062
Space elevators are chill, barely noticeable. Don't really need gravity magic, the main thing to fix is to find a strong enough material but it's plenty plausible.
It's better to make them somewhat close to the equator to keep things simple though.

>> No.70252550

>>70251220
Graphine might be a durable and light material if its elastic enough. Though it is pure carbon. Which means its a fire hazard if it catches on fire. Also the equator is the best because of a stable year round climate without turbulent air pressure and it's one of the best spots for solar energy above the clouds. It has been a while since I researched space materials.

>> No.70253452

I mean it might sound silly when they greet you by sniffing you and divining your mood this morning, but the same skill set also means their hunters have built-in discount bloodhound and night vision goggles. They could potentially tell if their prey’s injured or scared and how long has it been since they left a certain spot through senses that humans don’t have and thus very hard to counter
The website I read also mentions that both heat and smell are persistent senses (compared to the live update of vision) but I haven’t figured out how that would impact salamoim’s way of thinking yet

Let's see, back in Vitubia individual particles of Mori Vitubium emitted a magical field which deformed the "soul" (aka intrinsic magical field) or any life that was nearby. This distortion had a morphogenetic effect which affected their growth and stem cell expression. On Viti, that factor is still at play but I formalized it a bit more with the moriama organelle, which is a bit similar to mitochondria in that it's actually a separate very specialized life form which takes a ride in the cells of other life for symbiotic purposes. Then, from the moriama's influence, a set of morphogenetic effects are applied, and over time this causes epigenetical adaptations.
It seems like the main hurdle I had to get through each time was that I wanted the magical morphogenesis to apply to a cellular level. It's probably possible to do the same thing with the creation of some specialized organ that forces the rest of the body to adapt to it, or with a nervous modification which affects growth hormones.

>> No.70317831

I thought about making a shuttle that can morph onto an airship, sea ship, and land ship with wheels. But I'm going to abandon the idea right now. Having that many complicated moving parts will make repairs a bitch without a full crew. Also you can have an amphibious airship easy. You just need to make the hull a boat that can land in water and a balloon that can carry it. Having wheels might be cute but we're talking about massive wheels even for a large commercial fishing boat.

If Baker-chan wasn't exiled from the Sana Space Station then she would be allowed to use Sanallite bases to repair the ship. But as of right now Baker-chan is on her own. If she's lucky she can rent a shipyard to use their cranes to lift the ship and weld repairs herself. And there's the elephant in the room of repairing and replacing the airship balloon eventually. I'm hoping airships are common enough balloons can be replaced easily.

I think airships do have landing gear anyway. Its better to roll on tires with breaks than grinding the hull into the dirt or sand. Luckily the ships should be slow enough they don't need heavy breaks. That said their weight might need heavier breaks anyway due to their size.

It’s a bit complicated since on one hand they know their fellow hunters can track them easily so they’ll try to hide their tracks if they wanna avoid detection. On the other hand they also know it’s very hard to evade tracking by fellow salamoim as most can’t stop their body heat and scent from existing. Maybe they consider engaging fellow salamoim (or other predators with similar senses) and those without to be separate things: hiding from humans’s relatively easy for seasoned hunters while hiding from attentive salamoim’s pointless. That would explain why they end up with the flashy Lolita fashion since if you can’t hide you might as well dress properly and face them head-on with decorum!

Good question! I don’t think any of the V&U girls are particularly sporty so we have relative freedom in working that out. Apart from the usual sports like soccer and basketball I feel /vnug/ as I write it would like something related to hunting as a sports. As for racing it’s nice but the environment doesn’t seem to give vehicles a lotta off-road opportunities but I guess they can always stick to the built area
And yes there will be magic sports! We just have to figure it out

That reminds of Predator, where Arnold coated his body in cold mud to insulate his heat signature and cover up his smell while hunting the Predator. That a tactic used by real spec-ops apparently. Maybe that'd be useful with Salamoim? Though if you're doing that you're really dedicating yourself to the hunt lol.

That's a good question. Probably would need to establish a personal connection with some member of the guilds, since it sounds like she's a pretty small business, would be hard to get her foot in otherwise. If she can impress someone with the quality of her goods she could be sponsored for limited access to some facilities. I'd imagine some deal where she is given access and local support in exchange for distribution rights in the region.

I did some quick google and I think it could work… but only for a somewhat short time. Covering yourself with cold mud (or taking a bath and then covering yourself with mud) works because your outermost layer’s now the same temperature as the background and the water has washed away your scent. That said it doesn’t stop your body from producing heat or smell so in time those will seep through the mud cover and make you slowly show yourself. It also doesn’t erase the path you’ve taken before you go skinny dipping so if you stay in one place it’ll only confuse the tracker for a moment (which might be all you need to strike back)
It’s more useful if you’re on the offensive since you’ll be constantly moving and thus distance yourself from your scent path but I don’t know if a walking mud man’s gonna be less noticeable. The biggest drawback of olfaction in this scenario’s that it relies on the spread of molecules in the air so it’ll take a while before your scent could reach the salamoim (unless they’re downwind from you) so moving fast and striking quickly’s more likely to win than trying to wait it out. *Really* good salamoim hunters might position themselves in a way so that they’re always facing leeward so as to rely on their smell to tell what’s upwind. They might also know the local environment so well to the point that they can tell by smell if the mud’s been disturbed more than what simple walking would cause. Then again they might also recognize you’re dedicated to the hunt which can end well or very badly for you

No, it’s just that how an archetypical salamoim react to someone who’s desperately trying to stay alive differ a lot depending on how familiar they’re with human psychology. A salamoim hunter who knows enough about humans could tell if a human doesn’t want to fight if they can escape to safety so they might let them leave peacefully. A salamoim who doesn’t know about humans much (or just doesn’t care) might see that attempt as a challenge and decide to take it personally and make it their duty to fight with all they have

>It seems like the main hurdle I had to get through each time was that I wanted the magical morphogenesis to apply to a cellular level. It's probably possible to do the same thing with the creation of some specialized organ that forces the rest of the body to adapt to it, or with a nervous modification which affects growth hormones.
Sheeeeit, I hadn't even considered something like that. It sounds like Moriama aka the Morichondria ends up having similar effects on the population as Morinium did in the previous world but I don't think I'm exactly right in my assumptions that it dual wields deadbeat calcification and being the power house of the cell.
Lunaitos in Vitubia already had large phenotypical differences between other races, I don't see why that shouldn't be pushed further either. Specialized organs and organelles are cool as fuck, maybe some kind of pink blood cell? Maybe this could help one of the main problems with luknights in general, their difficulty in warm climates and heavy armor...

>I don't think I'm exactly right in my assumptions that it dual wields deadbeat calcification and being the power house of the cell.
Right, yes the Viti effects don't include increased calcification at all, the morphogenetics are expressed completely differently. Instead, the cooling effects are vastly increased, antifreezing proteins are synthesized and the added strength comes from the strategic microfreezing of certain parts of the tissues. While the common Vitubian deadbeat wasn't vastly colder than a normal human, the average Vitian deadbeat has an internal temp of 20-25 degrees, and magic practicioners can get downright cryogenic.
Ohh pink blood cell sounds cool. Could be a way to synthesize inhuman levels of blood sugar and improve the cooling of a body under heavy armor.

I remember hearing about how some ledgers in Greece that hinted at travel to Asia in days, not months. I wonder how they were able to pull it off. I'm guessing the water level might have been higher at the time and Greece didn't have to sail around the horn of Africa. Maybe Viti has a history of high waters like that.

I'm looking at the big lakes on the main continent. I have many ideas for connecting rivers and canals. I have many other ideas for daming rivers and blocking travel during war. Perhaps airship travel is the way between lakes. I'm just trying to muse a topic that's not food.

Despite the lakes being there, that region is quite arid, so it'd make sense if it had a lot of irrigation and canals criss-crossing it to get water places.

Oh, right, yeah these lakes are probably quite salty, so for irrigation you'd want to divert water from the rivers flowing from the surrounding mountains, not from the lakes.

So I'm researching whether or not salt lakes are acidic or basic. Apparently there are also soda lakes which are lakes with strong akaline minerals in the water. Soda lakes have unique organisms that live in the akaline waters. And a fun fact about the Dead Sea is the salt is so dense that nothing can sink in it. Also the Dead Sea salt water will literally eat your skin because your skin is acidic while the salt waters are basic.

That said if enough fresh water flows into the salted lakes and there's enough drainage then the lakes will be slightly saltier sea water. You'll have to paint the hull with a thick coat of paint but travel on ship is possible.

>what tips can you give for making grammar syntax?
first we select a word order. this can be at random but i assume SVO since that's the same as english and spanish. as far as syntax and grammar go forth, there is a lot more to it. there's morphosyntactic alignment, conjugation, declension, sentence branching and such, but if you want to create something of a creole like i've done then you won't have to worry too much about that since it will be either the same as english/japanese/spanish or more likely a simplified version of each. my personal tip is that you just don't change it much from these languages (given you speak at least one of them) and go about simplifying the conjugation to be either nonexistent or be gramatically unproductive (i.e. archaic grammar that is no longer used but still remains part of the lexicon, like the english word "behold" from the old ass prefix "bi-" and "haldan(hold)"). you can also mix grammar, like i did with tcuubaspiku, which requires a greater understanding of two or more languages that i can help you with if you need.
if you want to intend a new language from scratch (a-priori) may god help you.
can i see the script?

We don't really do too much hunting, but our climate is pretty much constant year-round. Mostly a sort of easy transition between spring and fall without much in the way of winter or summer.
Our islands do mostly stay in a sort of tropical summer with probably the only variations being a monsoon or rainy season during the year.

Hunting season isn't always based on summer and winter. It's about animal reproduction cycles and population control. An over population of deer can lead to disaster without predators to control them. And an over-population of predators leads to chaos with livestock and human attacks.
