I feel like Filian and her general sphere of other vtubers on Twitch are just so profoundly disconnected from the "general" vtubing community to the point where I'm actually having trouble connecting her with the anime sphere in general outside of her having a anime girl avatar.

I know that doesn't really make sense, but hear me out: if you look her name up on anime art archiver/aggregate websites like Danbooru and Gelbooru, you will find that she only has 48 and 55 fanarts tagged under her name respectively. For reference, Gura and Marine both have over 11k artworks tagged under their names. Even Shiori's already accumulated over 1.3k in under a year, even though she has a fifth of the subs, and the majority of people drawing her are EN-speaking artists, not S/EA ones. So, the third most subscribed vtuber in the world having less than a triple digit fanart count on those websites is very.. interesting. Fanart is only really a small slice of the anime community online, but I think it's enough to indicate a general disconnect from her and her audience and the anime community, or at least the sphere of the anime community that vtubers fall under. If you ask me, I would say that she's more of an extension of the general Twitch streaming community than she is an extension of the Vtubing community that originated from Japan.

But I guess you can make that argument for all Twitch-based vtubers in EN in general, so idk.
