That's a good thing, a VERY good thing.
Communities are about a lot more than just discussing a common interest, or rather, talking about other things is an indication that it really is a community and not something like StackOverflow where people only use it for relevant discussion.
That's why every forum or discord channel or something similar that's not dead and not meant for serious business has at least one off-topic subforum/channel, often more.
People bond over a shared interest and then once they decide they like one another they look for more things to bond over.
For example I used to frequent /mans/ a while ago before I stopped watching vtubers entirely for like a year, I'm only checking /vt/ on a whim if I'm honest and many times I was more entertained by the people I shared the thread with than by the guys themselves.
Or how a long time ago Ina was doing a watchalong for this mediocre-at-best movie, a bunch of us congregated to watch it together and I had fun with them way more than I had fun watching Ina react.
That's pretty much how communities work.

You should have 3 different discords:

-a discord with vetted community members for managing your channel

-a discord for collabs

-a discord for receiving feedback from plebs

Don't have any other discords. Everything else can be done on stream.

How do chuubas do discord events. Do they have voice chat on?

I had an issue once where there was kid there and an adult who made inappropriate jokes in the call. The one who made the inappropriate joke made others decide to leave. I never wanted to do voice again and realized I needed to find a way to seperate the two groups to never interact. It caused me so much stress and I regretted it. I feel so bad that I didn't plan it better.

The best time time to make a discord is when you're new enough that your regulars don't know each other yet and small enough that you can directly control the activity on your server. Most viewers want to be in a cute girl's small server because they think they can groom you, so you use that to directly influence your community. Be sure to subtly shun and ignore anyone that doesn't stop by streams often or reference stream happenings so they feel obligated to watch you and always make it clear that you are not to be DM'd.
