there's a very important stat (for long form video/vod/stream at least) called the CTR (impression click through rate), basically the % of the people that saw your video thumbnail and clicked it. dead accounts that do not logged in, not using yt will not count toward the CTR for the algorithm because they simply never saw it. turning the notification off can be good though, but not for the reasons he provided
remember, the best views will always come from "browse feature" which is the yt home page and "suggested video", which is the up next, your subscribers can certainly help it get pushed. however, for music video, it can be really different because a lot of people tend to replay it multiple time, so a big portion of view can come from "playlist", or "yt search"
I can tell you more about what I know based on experience, but I, obviously, don't know everything about it. but I can tell you for sure that you should always be taking these kind of videos with a grain of salt. there's always a lot more that they don't tell you, or simply they don't even know
