Granted that can kinda fall under threatening the power balance of the clique, but it's another angle beyond just being able to communicate to proper management without having to go through the clique because being a strong solo act means even if you're cut off from management and stuck in your own little corner you're still a threat to their numbers.
This especially applied to zaion. Quircky, charming and charismatic, and threatened elira's whole "jarpig gamin' girl" gimmick by both being better as an entertainer and being the real deal rather than a normie larping and uwuing over the most banal aspects of the games.

They are "Japanese", both ethnically but neither culturally. One was adopted by white people and another grew up in malasia or something.
So even if they were fluent they likely didn't follow the expected unsaid Japanese social rules.

All I remember about Yugo was an iconic Papers Please series.
