It's weird how all the best scenes were in the present times. All the "romance" in the flashbacks are the two main characters fighting and/or licking each other faces. No wonder Mococo couldn't relate.
I hope they stick to Japanese movies or fun stuff like Die Hard/Princess Switch next time. At least their reactions were good but it still feels like a wasted watchalong and WE don't get one everyday.

There was very little time dedicated to getting invested in the characters rather than getting invested in the drama that happened. The relationship build-up was really glossed over with a montage from after they went on their first date to before they suddenly have sex, have a fight, and break up. Then after the break up Noah has a whole arc about going and returning from war and Allie finishes school and somehow found her new Mr. Perfect and directly skipping towards marriage. The pacing was fast as fuck, which is both a blessing and a curse. At least it felt fast, but the script is a hot mess. They clearly crammed too many things in two hours. WWII lasts for two minutes, with the main character's friend dying in the only combat scene, and the rival going from full-body cast to perfectly healthy in two scenes. Gosling's dad fucking dies off screen, and the house goes to complete wreck to fully renovated in an instant. Side-characters are barely existant, the only ones with any development are the mother, Lon, and Martha.
