"Everyone has their own niche. With supportive management and a stress free environment I'll grow into my niche and with enough time and freedom I'll gather a nice following that will eventually allow me to surpass not only Hololive's biggest talent, but big players like Markiplier and Pewdiepie.
With the great model and support people have come to know and expect from Nijisanji I know I'll go far. Thank you for the question!"

You don't say that in an interview though. You ask "How do you plan to compete with other streamers and set yourself apart?" asking that immediately labels yourself as the inferior product which you never ever do. You are always the biggest and best thing in town.

It's basically saying we're Dr Pepper(Nijisanji) how do you plan to out compete Coke(Hololive)... the answer is you don't you just don't they are top dog they lap your entire portfolio with 1 product Coke alone and they have 2 Coke and Diet Coke that lap your portfolio. Meanwhile the other guys Pepsi(Vshoujo) have to play an entirely different game using FritoLay(well established talents) and Quaker(Twitch) to compete with Coke... also Coke owns a majority of Monster Energy(Indonesia) making them even stronger.

So yeah it was a dumb question.

Hopefully, applicants would have done some analysis of what makes the successful vtubers successful. If they attribute everything to luck, then throw the applications out. Talk about what made Gura successful. Talk about the attributes that you've been building and improving on. Talk about which attributes were unique to Gura's situation (Covid, quick main branch acceptance, numerous years of successful past experience, etc.) to explain why you'll need to take a different path and temper any expectations of a quick return on investment. Things like voice include enunciation, speaking, and confidence. Gura has talked about practicing that too, so not practicing is to their own detriment. Then focus on what unique things you can bring, the niche you want to build from, and your take on the audience demographics for that niche. Not saying that you need to have done all of that, but this might be a good explanation to provide the interviewer to show that you at least have a plan of action if competing with Gura is the intent of the company.

You merely do not know what being articulate means. It's not about having a plan. It's about fluency, coherence and clarity. Saying, "I don't know," is far more articulate than vague nonsense that merely gives you the illusion of having something to say.

a response like:

"I don't know"

allows you space to talk more about the subject and steer it away from "what is this massive thing, how will you deal with it" to "here's how I would break this large problem into smaller parts"

it's a stupid question, but interviews are a conversation, so you just simply have to have a conversation.

Depends on what they actually want to know with that question. If it's about finding out how much they thought about what makes a successful youtuber you would let them talk until you have a grasp of that.
If it's more of a self-promotion thing I.E. what are your strengths that make you think you can be a top player. You interject with a question, maybe put on a bit of pressure (you are talking about what makes Gura good, but what I want to know what makes you competitive to Gura) if you want to see how they react to that.

The dumb part of this question is that Gura has things going for her that many don't. She already built a big following in her PL. And Gura's Design is very iconic, and memorable, due to its simplicity, so very marketable. Gura was already showing signs of becoming the most popular Myth member when the designs were revealed.
And then it's topped off with a experienced and successful streamer with a cute voice. She was kind of a perfect package for a debut. (Myth in general was a very strong debut)

The correct answer would be by creating a great community and healthy work environment that encourages talented people to join your company. Be hardworking, likeable, funny and open minded. Improve yourself constantly so people with great potential want to join the company. That's how Coco recruited Gura and Myth. It's also the opposite of what NijiEN did.
