The other archetype is that of the effeminate male, that shows vulnerability, withdrawal, and aloofness, so he can activate the woman's feminine motherly nature. That's where most male Vtubers gravitate towards nowadays, because they can easily couple it with homosexual/bisexual signalling, to trigger fujoshi imagination and ships (ie free PR and mindshare). This approach is short-term though, and most females will gravitate away once sated or when the intrigue is gone.

The issue is that most male Vtubers are obese flips and chinks, that never actually interacted with women outside twitter, so they can't really perform up to snuff. There are some that are naturals, but that's the absolute minority.


Another issue is that content that caters to women is way more limited. Women, in reality, only care about zatsudan and ASMR. That's one of the reasons it's harder to incline as a male Vtuber even in markets that haven't reached saturation yet (like the western fujoshi market). This is why a lot of male Vtubers fall into the trap of talking about politics or sociopolitical topics, since they are topics that dominate public discourse, everyone has an opinion on them, and they already know what the socially-permitted opinions are (female are truly a monolith). Corporate entities do not allow those topics though, so once they are contracted with a company, that topic avenue goes out the window. That leaves many male Vtubers scratching their head about content, which often default to gaming and collabs, with both of those avenues allowing for only middling conversion rates.


So, male Vtubers are effectively left with two main options. They either have to be able to talk about engaging experiences and stories, things that they've lived, thought, or felt, or they have to be able to spin tales based on fiction convincing enough and engaging enough to captivate an audience.
Not many terminally online vtweeters have lived interesting lives, so it's no wonder they aren't very engaging when they become Vtubers.

Male friendships have a lot of banter, hierarchical checking, playful insults, and incensed conversations, that are definitely not allowed in a sterile corporate environment. I guarantee you, none of the holostars interact the same with their coworkers off camera as they do on camera. Especially if they are friends.
