-Watoto is a survivalist and a craftsman. It's not out of this world for him to have a lighter given that part of his crafting is cooking questionable shit up.
-siphoning gasoline is possible if he brought some of those tubes in his shed. Maybe context it would have made things more clear but it's still not impossible
-the hedges getting shit scared of him is implied not to be because of him but because of the forces that support him. I mean, he did role a critical success.

Checked.

Everyone did a relatively decent job. My only gripe was Kiara not attempting to shoot the guy in the junkyard. Even if Calli had imposed a -3 or -4 dice for the distance, she could have burned a willpower and rolled around 4-5 dice. When she sent Uhu out, I was certain he was going to get shot. It's good that Kiara is using her specialties to their max, but she's too reliant on the bird.

/tg/ is quite varied in taste usually people just keep in their own threads, there is probably a lot of people of /tg/ that like holos or other vtubers (myself for example), or a least don't go full autist against them and can respect their actual love for the game (and the fact that they aren't taking the lower hanging fruit that is dnd) but there some assholes who don't play games, that attack everything, from dungeon meshi threads, to worldbuilding threads, saying that they are not /tg/, they appear even in dnd threads saying that is not /tg/ (say what you want about the game but that is just silly) and is pretty obvious that they don't actually play games hell probably no one speak with them in real life, and only are in the board because they have this weird fantasy that tabletop games are some kind exclusive thing that can only be play in the some precise way and they special (which in a sense they are pretty special people), you kinda become used to them.

Different fa/tg/uy.

Understand there is some edition mixup going on with this game. Common issue when the mechanics between editions are similar enough; people remember old rules.

In this case, Cali is clearly using the char gen and sheets from Requiem, but in the into solo sessions the target number being the difficulty was from Old World of Darkness (OWoD) which I’m guessing is what Cali initially played. The beats system, however is from the latest edition of vampire.

I’m wondering if the IP holder didn’t realize she was going to be using older rules sets and then put their foot down about using the latest system in the stream.

So in your quest to get into some vampire the first thing you should do is figure out which edition you want to play.

Now, as to a critique of this first session, it’s obvious this is Calis first time running a game, but she’s gone whole hog with the bum, scenery, maps the works. As she gains xpand levels up she could become a great GM. The only hiccup I really saw that wasn’t brought about by new gem + first session awkwardness was Kiarra doing“ I don’t see a reason for my char to cooperate with or trust these randos” thing.

You get that from time to time, because people are trained to treat metagaming (making character decisions based on player knowledge) like a Greater Unclean One. But there are a few times when metagaming is okay, and even helpful… like just accepting you and your friends all got together to play a game together, and the deciding NOT to do that is kinda silly.

In short, it was a decently fun session. A few bumps here and ther but nothing inexcusable or game breaking. I’m really looking forward to watching the girls grow as tabletop gamers.

The spergs are usually easy to spot, both in the threads and ALL CAPS BACKSEATING in the stream chat, usually when Calli does something that violates the "rules". Personally I don't know what all her homebrew has cooking in it, myself not being a TT'er anyway (no frenz), so I don't let myself get twisted out of shape. In the tutorials though, she did miscount a few rolls and I pointed that out in hopes that she'd notice. DM shouldn't be miscounting successes (and the players shouldn't be either), but with everyone doing their own rolls I think that little issue has just about resolved itself.

I'd rather they use exploding 10's though, especially if the girls can't just reroll 10s of their own initiative, rather than waiting for Calli to remind / give them permission to do so. I think it's an etiquette / manners thing, but it slows the games down a bit when they bumble about getting a group perception done.

i noticed two little points of "blink and you miss it" bad-ass-ness.
First, when Kiara asks what gun would be best vs. a vampire, Ame blurts out "Kar98K"
if there is more f a meme or Ame lore to this choice of weapon, let me know....
but,
The Mauser Kar98K was the chief rifle of the Wermacht, the KonMinTang, and was often kept as a trophy by Allied soldiers who could sneak one home from WWII.
It's in a lot of WWII video games, but it's a very specific weapon.
Second, when Scout and Watoto play punch buggy, Gura says "you can't punch back unless you see a Buggy or a Beaver Slab"
Holy Shit Gura, 44 awesome points for you!!!
do you know what a Beaver Slab is?
it's pretty specific slang.
Southern Truckers and CB drivers call any showy car designed to pick up girls, specifically with lots of flashy upgrades or paint, a Beaver Slab.
yeah.
that was cool.
i didn't know Gura and Amelia came from my people.

No, but as much as no GM plan survives an encounter with the players, the PCs equipment has a good chance of not sticking with them for too long. Couple points:
1) Comparing Mythbreakers with CR really isn't fair. As mentioned MB has a ton of heavy filters: anime girls, streamed on Youtube across multiple channels, WoD in general, Hunter:the Vigil specifically, almost completely newbie cast. No corporate support from OP/PI. Also CR has >100 episodes in the bag so a lot of the early kinks have been worked out. Go back and watch the early episodes and it's shocking how different it is. And obviously everyone is a professional voice actor and long time friends. If Mori makes this a long running series and Paradox actually gets on board I'd love to see how the sessions go and how popular it is around, say, episode 20-30.

2) Despite all that, the audience sizes are closer than you'd think. Main line CR gets 50-100K+ peak viewership, EU is around 30K after the debut, while MB seems to run in the 15-25K range. Given all the debuffs that's actually insane for a WoD TTRPG stream.

I would actually love it if this were at NA primetime weekend weekly stream, though I understand why they won't do that. Honestly I think Paradox is being incredibly dumb here. Even if they want nWoD dead just make a deal with Cover/Mori to plug her streams and just ask her to say something like, "I'm using some older resources but if you want to play the most recent, up to date game check out the new Vampire book, coming out soon!". I feel like most people end up mixing and matching what they like from the lore anyway.

I think you are downplaying the ability to roleplaying of the girls, they are practically roleplaying for hours during the week, something closer to what you do at the table, a voice actor is given a script and work it out, those girls drop shit on the act, that's why Scout is damn fun, because Gura has a fast tongue and stay in character pretty well.

I had no idea CPP owned the IP for a while what an absolute clusterfuck. It's fine to say WoD is doing really well but compared to where they were in the 90s its hard not to see it as a huge lost opportunity. I feel a significant fraction of people who play TTRPGs enjoy them and then really get into them, whereas others have fun but aren't the ones actually reading the books cover to cover, memorizing the rules and merit mechanics, finding obscure splats, etc. Mori was obviously the former. If they can find a core of 3-4 long-term players while the others do short stints or guest spots between Gen 1, Gen 2, and/or ID it would set the stage for a long running campaign. But who might those players be? I'm not sure any of the girls are invested to that level yet though I wouldn't count any of them out yet.

What happened to White Wolf was really depressing. I still remember their official announcement about the "merger".
>We're merging with CCP! They'll benefit from our Intellectual Property, we'll benefit from financial security and we'll both benefit from the WoD MMO!
Then CCP gutted the company, fired all the employees of White Wolf, hired some of them back as freelancers and cocked up the MMO. They started hiring literal fanfiction writers off the forum, because fans will work for less money.

They can reroll another character to join in at some point, or the party tries to hobble along as best they can with a gimped crew.

It's hard to say in this current setup, a live streamed campaign of first-timers who put A LOT of love into their first TT characters. Calli has gone on record saying "I will only hand out deaths if they are well deserved", which, reading between the lines, means if someone acts exceptionally stupidly, they will not be given a safety net in the event of the dice failing them.

>> No.7002016

If the DM goes out of their way to kill a player outside of combat? Usually mass ragequit, it kills the game real quick. Generally, a non-combat story death is talked about with a player first, so just killing a player out of nowhere tends to piss people off.

Otherwise, it depends on what the group wants out of the game, and the mentality/skill of the DM.

If the party just wants a fun adventure, the DM may slightly undertune encounters, and start pulling punches if a player starts getting into trouble, in which case, players really shouldn't be dying, but if they just get straight up unlucky with rolls and die, if the universe allows for resurrection, they'll just get a res. However, if no rezzes, it really depends on the mentality of the group, and how well liked the character was. I've seen people need to take breaks after their beloved character dies, even if it was pure dumb luck.

If the party is in it for a more hardcore adventure, a DM will throw harder encounters at the players, and won't pull punches if someone looks like they're about to die. Generally deaths are expected and planned for in this case. Rez/reroll without much fuss.

Usually the type of adventure you get is discussed between the players and DM before anything even happens in the first place, and a good DM will be able to read the room and design encounters appropriately.

To give credit where it's due, /mlp/ was both WAY more obnoxious than vtubing ever has been, and the height of its craze occurred at a time before normie / woke shit was in vogue and sought to infect every aspect of everyone's lives. Add to that the vtuber community has a very hardy, very dedicated cultural protectionist mentality that does its best to fight off unwanted influence from any bad actors (see: the charity groups that were involved in a recent con that HololiveEN was only slightly connected to).

TL;DR- vtubers don't care about growth, numbers, or being accepted. They seek to preserve their corner of the entertainment industry, and have it remain as unpolluted and pure as possible.

It was Gura's initial draft during the CC session. Essentially she wanted to do a blind assassin who posed as a courier. Her lack of sight was offset by her other senses being intensely acute, and her ability to sneak around was so good she could become near invisible if need be.

Then she most likely realized she was playing a regular human and not some modern D&D campaign. Afterward she set about drafting up a well-rounded character, going through several iterations / streams until settling on Scout.

Lots of anons shit on her for "not understanding" the setting, but Gura had just hopped into the CC stream right out of her own 12 hour endurance stream, so she was dead on her feet (or ass) during the whole thing. Same-chan came through for us in the end though.

How the hell will those dorks survive when they have to fight a vampire or werewolf without tutorial training wheels?

A lot of people are being put to shame right now.

This whole campaign is a tutorial. Calli said it will only have 5 or 6 sessions.

Anon, you can watch youtubers hit small targets from 800 yards away. Trained shooter could do it fine. Also owls are pretty slow birds. I saw my uncle taking out sparrows with a Rem700 no problem.

>Yuul initiates with a car / motorcycle charge, knocking everyone down with Roadkill
>Scout brains enemies with her pickaxe
>Watoto either uses chemical warfare or goes for a necksnap with his brawling skills
>Tiara does the tried and true Fallout strategy: aim for the eyes, both with her guns and with Uhu's claws, dumping her willpower into every burst for maximum effect
I get the feeling supernaturals would be a resilient bunch, but coordination and teamwork should be enough to drop them, should each player act intelligently.

Shooting back with a .22 revolver? Good luck. Seriously they are so under geared it's ridiculous.

That's about 2/3 of the DnD starter set and that shit often kills people on the first goblin ambush.

Aren't they better for visual intimidation than actually being used?

Better than doing nothing, which was what she did during that whole chase. Even Watoto tried to disrupt him with his sound gun.

It's also not really a relevant factor.

that Orc is a paladin.

dumb question:
Name HoloEN's Race and Class they'd pick in a DnD game.
or just ignore me and talk about the Mythbreaker setting anyway. probably a better idea.

.22 can kill fine you just need to aim well.

A human with a bow and arrow can do a lot of amazing shots, with proper training and experience. I'm not a Changelling buff but we're still talking about a Fae at the Hedge, and even if it isn't the actual for real Arcadian Huntsman, it can still snipe an owl flapping aimlessly with ease.

That's the fun of Cell-level Hunter, the things out there can fuck you up even with preptime. Shit, depending on the situation a Conspiracy-level hunter is barely too far above an X-COM grunt with good tech to clutch it out.

>>7016988
If that's true that'd be one hell of a tutorial, actual trial by fire. It makes sense, since Madam M just threw the PCs at a fucking Malkavian ball as a first mission. Sure it's a recon job but still.

This actually came up in a very, very early thread when Calli was floating the idea of doing a TTRPG collab:
>Gura half-elf bard
>Amelia elf ranger
>Kiara human / tiefling sorcerer
>Ina drow cleric or favored soul

Yeah it's kinda funny how people act like hitting small birds is impossible when humans were doing that 3,000 years ago with primitive bows.

>without tutorial training wheels?
You don't 1v1 a Werewolf or Vampire even with training wheels.
HtV is great because it's basically a Stargate SG-1 RPG except good/not forced into the D&D 5E mold, so those sorts of questions are best answered by a well-calculated outburst of panic and a LOT of plastic explosives.

If Mori does want consequences for doing that, she should have "Are you sure?"ed her, to remind her that her bird is a potential target too, and to let the consequences rest on her head. I know it's generally not good DM form to ask the player if they're sure about that, but Kiara was thinking with her player brain and not with her character brain in that moment

>> No.7019901

"are you sure?" is great GM form. GM's are player advocates, not villains. Anyone telling you they shouldn't have the player's best interests in mind and helping them like that is a nogame, or a terrible GM playing in some very adversarial games.

>Aren't they better for visual intimidation than actually being used?
That's BS peddled by people who can't afford (socially or financially) cars with mods and thus have to talk big about the ammo they stack.
Yes, it matters. No, it doesn't matter as much as tends to be endlessly repeated.
Even if you don't have one shot one kill (and the only people ITT who can rightfully boast that should spend more time harassing their elected representative for ditching their asses) as your (unrealistic) goal getting shot is pretty intimidating on its own.

All that being
