Phoenixes and owls aren't for riding. Dragoon birds are for riding because they're cavalry units like Chocobos from Final Fantasy. And Chocobos have pretty versatile legs and feet that allow them to walk backwards. They're based on moas/ostriches but they have been adapted and domesticated to be ridden by other humans. They also have lots of muscle and lay big eggs which means they're good to eat as well. They're omnivorous that they eat seeds, leaves, fruits, carrots, insects, insects, worms, and small animals they can swallow.

That's the point. Chocobos are a good template to spec-bio a rideable moa. Hell if you compare chocobo skulls to moa skulls chocobos have bigger skulls. They also have smaller but thicker necks. You don't need long goose necks. You just need a neck long enough to graze on the ground. And the slightly bigger skull means more brains and beak muscles. You can give the birds more folded brains because they are flock animals with communication systems. And the birds will be raised to be easily trainable and brave fighters.

The Grand Rrat Manifesto

The great darkening was a time of unimaginable strife and chaos, especially in the lands directly affected, but in the rest of Viti as well. There was a range of reactions to these happenings; fury, calls for total war, complete isolationism, international denunciations, crusades. But one group of unique individuals was assembled for a specific task. Not to tackle the challenges faced by us mortals, but to unravel the mysteries of the Heavens.

Prophets, medicated schizos, visionaries, diviners, forsaken priests and vagabond monks, unwise sages, thoughtless thinkers and rrat peddlers from all walks of life had heard of a gathering congregation in the heartland of the greater continent. Some mysterious benefactors known as the Recondite Regiment of Atavistic Theologues (RRAT) were sponsoring the event, having acquired an industrial quantity of magical substances through the international black market, and the divine essence was flowing like wine. Sakura Miko flower tea, powdered Pebble dust snorted through bamboo shoots, carefully smuggled sapling sap and palkyrie blood, concentrated Lunaito candy, ground up bones from the icy Moriji mountains, shark fins poached in the chumbud seas, the most exquisite carrots found in pekoland, the finest examples of an unending variety of illicit products was found and consumed here.

And most (currently) potent of all, the nearly untethered schizo juice that were the cyan and purple plumages of the dragons found in the now blackened Niji lands. Chewing on such for only a minute launched most anyone into a delirium of unsegregated genius and insanity, and from the assembled brainpower of the acute minds in this place, deeper understandings of the foundations of the world were being found.

Through the review of ancient and recent archives, connections were found. Not only the public records, but also forbidden, hidden knowledge that attracted the fury of powers that usually laid low. Why did this goddess cast out this prophecy at this time? What was the hidden meaning of this wording? Why did they turn against each other in such a way, when amicable relations had been assumed? When did the camaraderie of the pantheon turn into vicious poison, leading to the self-destruction observed?

As the links were formed, the rrats fell in place and the enthusiasm grew. The empowerment of these discoveries almost made you forget the horrors of the underlying disasters; the esoteric researchers making the discoveries certainly had. Once a large part of the puzzle had been put together, the theory was christened: the Great Unifying Rrat, or GURRAT.

The hippogryph is a pretty good self honesty test. First you need to ask yourself: do you want to tame a hippogryph? Me, I do not want to tame the hippogryph. Instead I want to befriend a hippogryph and have him in the area so long as he doesn't eat my livestock. Maybe if I'm lucky I can pet him. I think you meant to reply to >>69213370 but sure. Ice, in theory, can become hard enough to be bullet proof. How? By compressing water so dense it turns solid. In Avatar the last Airbender ice is made by compressing water, which makes it hard as steel unlike normal ice. Ice is often fragile because ice crystals trap air within their structures which makes them pourus. That said a thick enough wall of anything can stop any bullet.

Bulletproof ice would probably be a higher level spell, while at lower level you have to manage with only deflecting the trajectory of the projectile, or slowing it down enough so that your body armor can block it.
