There's the question of the quality of the model which increases costs and time, but it's not some arcane and insane industry where it's hyper expensive, especially since a vtuber 3D model is still pretty much just an anime girl with whatever clothes which is a pretty standard workflow.

Kizuna AI also means connection love.

Do you anons have any graduation that have genuinely traumatised you? For me it was Kurone Yomi. She was one of my favorite vtubers back to 2020-2021. She had her usual singing stream and everything seemed normal. During the stream I went to check some other VOD of hers but it wasn't there. I thought she had another menhera moment, which was pretty normal for her. Then suddenly I realised all remaining streams had been disappearing one by one. Soon she said that she was graduating, joked about finding a boyfriend and leaving because of that, and ended the stream with an MV with all her songs and past memories being displayed. There were no streams after that, no graduation stream, she only published a song leaving no chance to save anything else. Some people said the company made her do it this way, and indeed, she published some weird pictures about "being beaten" by them before that, although Re:AcT itself hasn't mentioned anything about her leaving on bad terms. Moreover, Yuki, her best friend who joined on the same terms, has all her singing streams saved in the public playlist even after the graduation. I'm still not sure but either way it was such a huge "fuck you" towards viewers that I can't bring myself to watch her as Laplus.

Not an official "graduation" per se.
But I got into Vtubers in August 2020 after searching for Koshien baseball in Japanese because it was happening around then and I had always had an interest in Japanese baseball having watched a bunch of anime about it, and I remember coming across Nijisanji's Sasaki playing 栄冠ナイン thinking "Wow funny kansai anime girl" (I was aware of Vtubers since at the time I was a /jp/ regular shitposting in the 3DPD alt idol side, but I had no real opinion of them).
Eventually I got Yuzuki Roa's late night Minecraft streams in my recommendations around late august/early september, and at the time it was peak comfy; building the sky railway, the machine gun talk about random topics, the collabs with Belmond and Ars and blowing up that mountain with TNT. It was one of those watershed moments where you could feel yourself getting hooked and discovering this whole new world of entertainment.
I was still pure and had no idea about all the other stuff that was happening behind the scenes (with Meiro), since I just followed the streams and generally avoided the /jp/ threads and other community platforms (I suffer from slight 同担拒否-itis).
Then mid-October came along and I was watching someone else's stream and people started going crazy in the comments about Roa and celebrating the dislike bombing/dunking her latest archive was getting, and out of morbid curiosity I also checked twitter and saw she was trending. The rest is history I guess, she hasn't streamed since. The overall hate she received at the time traumatised me in the sense that it put me off a good chunk of the broader community for a long time, and I'm still sensitive to whenever people try to pile-on Vtubers for doing something "wrong".
Even though she still periodically put out voice packs, the "Yuzuki Roa" from that time is for all intents and purposes gone, forced into a pseudo-graduation purgatory for 3+ years now.
