In Mel's case, she admitted she fucked up and, more importantly, Cover gave her the grace to give a "farewell" stream, and is now keeping her content up until the end of February. Contrast that with Nijisanji where they were radio silent on Selen's disappearance, then, terminated her and deleted all her videos during the announcement. And worse, slandered her in the notice. I like Fuwamoco a lot. Their valentines stream today was very novel because they did a visual novel thing, which was better than Holo EN's attempt last year. For Biboo, I am hoping she will do another long stream. I used to member Nerissa, and that was because she was doing a BG3 stream. My only complaint so far is that Gura has not one-on-one collabed with Advent, but, I'll give it time. Maybe there's a clique in Holo EN, maybe Gura just wants her space. I've been watching a few and I gotta say, Hololive ain't what it used to be. It feels very clinical and corporate, and knowing that there's similar systemic issues like kurosanji that affects talents by demotivating them, like Gura and Shion, just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It feels less like a group of friends now and more like a business for money. Maybe that's why Coco decided to leave when she did, she saw the internal changes from a company where it was fun to make content to one run by MBAs. Thankfully, yagoo is still in charge and he does good working treating the talents with respect, despite the changes in business.

I really only watch Vshojo and indies, but Nijisanji's work environment seems like it's much more toxic than the other companies. Matarkan and Kuro praised Vshojo's management, and Kuro said the fact that they offer mental health resources to members was one of the major things that won him over to joining. LordAethelstan has been talking to Kyo behind the scenes, and has been very vocal about disliking Nijisanji recently. He seems genuinely happy Kyo is escaping and going indie. The fact that even Pomu left but she's actively hanging out with people she met through Nijisanji shows that the company is the problem, and most EN vtubers can form friendships with each other just fine.

As I see it, small corpos and the indie scene is just a more natural fit for western vtubers. Entertainers in general and big corpo just don't mix very well here. Any relationships they form are really done out of necessity if the entertainer wants to make it big. Vshojo succeeds by being more indie friendly and Cover by actually trying to understand western concerns. Smaller corpos have gone belly up, but the ones that work out seem to work out because the right people got together to work in smaller corporate environment where talents and their requests/concerns can be addressed more quickly and directly. Meanwhile, Anycolor were cheap bitches who threw whoever at NijiEN to get it barely running, which included biased talents who managed to seize control and bottle neck the branch. So now not only is NijiEN livers under the thumb of a tone deaf Japanese corporate bureaucracy from a giant company, but now also under the bureaucracy of coworkers who seem uninterested in playing a fair game and incapable of wielding the power they were unwittingly given.
