I was diagnosed with ADHD nearly 20 years ago. I would be willing to participate in CBT honestly, but a lot of the therapists in my network just do talk therapy. Talk therapy never seems to work for me because I'm usually too lucid during therapy to actually work out the source of my problems and then put actionable solutions in place.

I will say that the other symptoms of ADHD are still very active with me, and I tend to have awful ability to focus on tasks without taking my medication. I swapped to a different medication pretty recently and it only increased my symptoms instead of treating them. (I take strattera and it takes care of my bad focus and treats my emotional instability for the most part.) Thank you for the unironic suggestion though, I'll probably try looking further into getting CBT just to see if that'll help.

I was 5 when my parents took me to get diagnosed. Was tested for autism too but I'm not. I've been medicated for 16 years. After trying to get a different medication unironically because of my father's suggestion to try different meds to take care of my emotional issues I discovered that my meds are not, in fact, a placebo.
For the last 10 years that I've been aware of how my mental illness effects me, I've been trying to actively run from it and get rid of it. A lot of these new-age "ADHD" kids seem to think that ADHD is actually a valuable diagnosis and don't realize the hell that it can be living with it for most of your life. It's only recently that I've been trying to work with it instead of constantly running from it and playing into my strengths mentally has to a point improved my productivity. But yeah, otherwise my meds work fine and I'm very, very sure that I am definitely unironically ADHD. I loathe every child who wants to have this nightmare in their lives and acts like it's some kind of desirable quirky "neurodivergence" while actively getting themselves addicted to amphetamines and probably ruining their bodies.

Feeling down yesterday, now I'm happy again.

Yep methylphenidate is the only thing that works for me. Adderall is basically a recreational drug desu, whereas extended release methylphenidate actually helps. You just can't feel it working cause it doesn't make you high lol
