The company rightfully only invests in projects that it believes will be successful. Doki wasting 200k shows both negligence and inability to gauge her own value and ability to attract an audience through legitimate means and entertainment value. Mori is also funding her own animated music video, but she expects it to be successful. that's why none of these ex-nijis are a good match for Hololive, and why none of them were probably even in the top 100 of considered talents in previous rounds of auditions.

Holobronies make these threads all the time, but when Vshojo and the backpack merchant nuts up and actually gets the big free agents, you seethe.

The main benefit from joining Hololive is to get a big audience fast, get help with sponsorships and merch, and access to idolshit. I don't think they help much with the events that talents do, other than fes prep. I like Selen, and feel that she would probably enjoy the company that Hololive gives, but right now I don't really see a big reason for her to want to join since she already has an audience and obviously already seems bombarded with sponsorships. I can see Pomu wanting to join to dive more into idolshit but I doubt that would be a draw for Selen.
