Selen could have very well had been given a premature Yes by her manager without an actual yes from the higher ups weeks prior, then suits coming back to the Manager to Selen with a "don't release yet until WE say so", and then have a Yab happen because suits decided to pull back on a month-long project one day prior.

Selen was terminated and kept quiet the under the threat of an NDA, so they very much can control the narrative fed to the fanbase and corporations will most definetly lie to try and save face.

You don't need that many permissions and everyone involved in production and copyright gave the thumbs up. Either that or higher ups sat on the papers for a long time and didn't bother checking until the day before the deadline, which is yet another clear L on niji's management part.
