68215568 No.68215568 [Reply] [Original]

I'm beginning to realize that VTubers have ruined my life. I get a piece of lazulite in a video game and then I think "*sigh* Lazulight. Pomu is gone..." There was a time when I thought vtubers were making me happier, but now I'm wondering if I'd be happier if I'd never gotten into them.

When did you realize vtubers have ruined your life?

when miko went on that long medical break, I wished I had never had an oshi, just so I wouldn't have to know the pain of missing an anime character so much. it does make the return stream a special time though

The responsibility isn't on them to make you happy. Your oshi doesn't even know you.
You sound like a teenager or emo anime character that got rejected or heartbroken and wonder:
"Will I ever love again? *sigh*"
or
"If i knew friendship will lead to betrayal, maybe I shouldn't have friends..."

Figure it out, it's fine to be sad but to claim it's ruined your life. Imagine if 40 years from now and you're still thinking "Vtubers ruined my life, that fucker Pomu".

I've come to find out that the easiest way to make watching vtubers less "life-ruining" is... to become a casual viewer.
>only watch streams that interest or entertain you the most from a selection of vtubers
>don't buy SCs or give donations
>only buy memberships or merchs when there's something that YOU like, not because you want to support whoever selling the merch
All the above makes it less likely for you to be emotionally attached and makes you focus only on your own entertainment.
The vtubers you watch on occasion graduates? No problem, you still have a list of vtubers to watch.

can't relate. seeing Henya's pure kindness, optimism and work ethic despite everything she has gone through life gave me a proverbial kick in the ass and put so many things into a different perspective it's not even funny.
now I feel alive again instead of just going from day to day, I started losing weight again and even I'm more optimistic about my future thanks to her. whatever happens in the future, I'll be eternally grateful to the little genius.

Vtubers didn't directly ruin my life but when I think about kizuna ai being in 2016 I think about how almost a decade has passed and half that time was dealing with covid bullshit, vtubing becoming massively poplar because of that. It's like vtubing casts a long shadow over the past few years.

Yeah, if Henya can crash 2 cars, deal with Japanese racism, work at a Taco Bell, and still be a ball of pure positive energy, I can get through my own issues. 2023 was my best year in my adult life and that is in part due to Henya.
I hope OP can smile again once Pomu reincarnates.

>>68215568
It hurt me a lot to see her go. It REALLY got to me. I've only had really 2 other oshis Coco Kiryu and Pikamee and they didn't hit me nearly as much as pomu. Her note ending off was so bittersweet and theatrical and right after Selens ''one last cup of coffee' cover it complete destroyed me. I spent the following week just watching her debut streams and crying.

But Pomu made it clear that she didn't want her leaving to be the end of everything. She was so energetic and kind and it was clear that she wanted everything to find things and grow beyond her. I think that's what us pomudachi's should do. Pomu was a vtuberfan, she was an idol fan and she's talked about similar feelings of sadness when her oshi's left. She's been so nice with the PL twitterspace and everything.

I think that things seem bad now, but just like ol' Pomu Puff said in one of her final streams: "It can be hard letting go of things, so you should find out why you liked a certain vtuber and why you like vtubers in general, and see if you can find others or even other hobbies that make you feel the same way. Even if things are hard I believe in you and I believe in all the Pomudachis. We already conquered earth and achieved full-pomufication of earth so now we have to grow beyond that. That's why pomudachis are all seeds right! We GROW!

Pomu is still out there, she's still aware of her fans and she is trying to be there at least a little despite having graduated. Some day you'll be able to look back on all the good times we all had, but dealing with the sense of loss comes first. And if reincarnation ever happens, Reincarnation-mu will be live once more. Continue supporing your oshi even when they graduate, take their words to heart and even if it's dumb always remember that those memoires of good times will be with you!

yes, *especially* the bullying. I chose a different path in dealing with mine, and while I've been clean of depression for almost a decade now I'm still quite bitter and negative, but thanks to her that's changing now, too. I'm almost a decade older than her so I have hope she'll be free of her inner demons one day, too.
